Responsible for the development of safety systems and programs to grow and sustain a safety culture across the enterprise through influence and direction. Introduced the first EHS policy with Nine Guiding Principles where the company had none at joining in 2016. Instituted an Investigation Policy that focused on root cause identification and actions to prevent incidents. Created a web-based BBS system for the company which saw a +300% participation growth. Developed and managed a company-wide safety stand down in 2018 that generated over 1,400 medium to high risk hazards by employees. Wrote the first Hazard and Risk Assessment Policy with an adjunct audit process. Worked with plant managers, operations managers and safety professionals to develop and execute a Distracted Driving Policy. The company’s TRIR went from 2.34 in 2016 to .52 in 2019. My work experience has provided overseas travel in all continents except Antarctica. Through travel and work, I have had the privilege to meet all kinds of people in a variety of vocations and experience diverse cultures. My work experience has allowed me the opportunity to interact with company personnel from CEOs to senior managers to senior officers in military organizations. I am comfortable sitting with an engineer between ship generators and reporting investigation results to the C-Suite. PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE (2006-Present)
Health, Safety and Environment

• In three plus years, influenced the change from a reactive focus to recordable incidents to prevention via hazard and risk analysis, startup meetings, safety committees, and BBS leading indicators.
• Home built BBS system (ZeroHarmBBS) started with 200 observations in January 2018 to over 1300 in February 2020; 96% participation (pre-COVID).
• Member of the EHS team which created a Dover-wide safety assessment tool based on OHSAS 18001 implemented in 2017 and continues at Dover sites.
• Grew safety professional population from one to 10 in the company. Convinced operational VPs the value-add for safety professionals at major manufacturing sites.
• Enhanced the quality and direction of the existing site Safety Steering Committees making (safety professional members) integral to EHS policy development.
• Created an Investigation Review Board (IRB) to ensure transparency and quality in all recordable investigations. The company president and select executive leadership team members are part of the IRB.
• Global HSSE Manager for 11 assets from Australia to Brazil. Based in Reading, UK. Provided HSSE leadership and direction to the Well Engineering (WE) Function on HSSE opportunities and threats in assets worldwide.
• Last full year at BG Group (2015), provided safety leadership resulting in IOGC top-quartile TRCF performance. Note: no direct reports only dotted line reporting with asset HSSE WE Managers.
• Supervised HSSE function for Generation 6 semi-submersible drilling rig pre and post-Macondo and with no recordable incidents. Moved rig from 10.9 to 1.4 TRCF. Maersk Drilling Rig of the Year in 2011.
• Engaged in safety and security management for over 20 years which included safety inspections on a wide variety of ships from commercial ships to drilling rigs small passenger vessels around the world.
• Lead auditor; implementing aspects of the ISM, ISPS, ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001 codes, policies and objectives throughout the fleet during internal audits on drilling rigs, US government, commercial ships and sites.

Regulatory Compliance
• Ensures adherence to national and international standards for health, safety and environment across the enterprise.
• No OSHA fines or visits by compliance officers to US sites. In the UK, one HSE visit resulted in commendations and no fines. Familiar with UK HSE regulations from working at BG-Group.
• Works with plant and operations managers to ensure US sites are complying with OSHA and company standards.
• Assisted in establishing and maintaining effective emergency response plans for shore base, ships and rigs which included interfacing between company, clients, regulatory authorities, flag and classification societies.
• Managed Lloyd’s Register for Document of Compliance and ISO 14001 audits for shore base and off shore drilling rig while complying with Flag, US and International Laws. Investigations
• Created an Investigation Policy which included Incident Flash notification, investigation principles and writing skills, and Lessons to be Learned. Trained plant personnel in investigative techniques.
• Senior U.S. Coast Guard and Maersk investigator; completed incident investigations from reportable injuries to cargo damage to high potential incidents to equipment damage around the world. Principal in Maersk Alabama hijacking.
• USCG Senior Investigator, leveraging vessel inspection with vessel incident investigations into exhaustive and detailed reports that were reviewed at the highest levels in the Coast Guard. Presented S&R proceedings before Administrative Law Judges and civil penalty proceedings with Hearing Officers against respondents.
