PROFESSIONAL WORK EXPERIENCE

Biological Scientist - ATEK.INC (DHS) BioWatch Program - 2019-2020

Nucleotide isolation and qPCR on samples for the detection of special agents. Responsible for QA and QC

on all samples, running verification assays.

Sr. Biomedical Associate - Cherokee Nation Technology Solutions - 2016-2019

Supervise genomics lab for blood coagulation and STEM cell research.

Maintain general lab readiness and efficiency. Ordering of lab supplies and stocking materials. Preparing method protocols and writing SOPs for experimental designs and equipment usage. Train and teach junior research personnel, post-docs and military officers in experimental protocols. Prepare data analysis and manuscripts for publications in peer reviewed journals. Present data at local and international meetings. Published three manuscripts in peer-reviewed journals.

Isolate DNA and RNA from cell samples for downstream RTPCR analysis and for cloning and viral plasmid preparation. RNAi target selection for gene silencing to study cell pathways and cell to cell interactions relating the tissue-factor pathways and blood platelets. Run mitochondrial biogenesis assays on cells and platelets to determine the status and function of the mitochondria in its relation to respiration pathways and viability. Run feed-back inhibition assays and protein analysis on cells to determine the relationship to tissue-factor pathway.

Developed methodologies and protocols to test hypotheses driven scientific research. Used statistical analysis to test and validate multiple data-sets leading to resolutions and decision making analysis. Presented data at international scientific meetings.

Scientist - General Dynamics - 2012-2016

Maintain general lab readiness and efficiency. Ordering of lab supplies and stocking materials. Preparing method protocols and writing SOPs for experimental designs and equipment usage. Train and teach junior research personnel, post-docs and military officers in experimental protocols. Prepare data analysis and manuscripts for publications in peer reviewed journals. Present data at local and international meetings.

Established in-vitro assays to study the effects of nanosecond electric pulses on molecular pathways. Run RTPCR for gene expression analysis and protein isolations for immunoprecipitations and Western Blots to study the effects of nsEP on cellular pathways. Ran mitochondrial biogenesis assays to study the effect of nsEP on the mitochondria and its relationship to ROS expression and cell survival. Studied the effects of nsEP on the cell receptors and the Fas/FasL response and its relationship to cell survival.

Gathered, manipulated and synthesized multiple scientific data-sets to complete analytical analysis of hypotheses driven scientific research. Developed protocols and methodologies and SOPs for implementation of fact-based decision making. Presentations for team meetings to transfer data and results. Presented data and findings at international scientific meetings. Published eight manuscripts in peer-reviewed journals.

Scientists- CMI- 2004-2012

In charge of the genomics and proteomics labs.

Studied the effect of laser bio effects and exposure of cells in-vitro. Established in-vitro assays to determine the survivability and damage of cells exposed to lasers. Ran RTPCR for gene expression and pathway development for protection mechanisms. Established an in-vitro model for the analysis of low-level red light exposure to cells and determined the protection pathway of the cells based on a pre-conditioning effect due to the exposure of the cells to the red light.

Developed hypotheses driven technologies and methodologies in relation to integrated data-sets. Relayed fact-based decision making ideas and concepts to other team members. Program management and project co-ordinator for multiple DOD scientific efforts. Used various analytical solutions to optimize scientific strategies to accomplish goals. Presentations for team meetings to transfer data and results. Presented data and findings at international scientific meetings. Published eleven manuscripts in peer-reviewed journals.

Project Coordinator—CMI – 2008-2010

For a two year period I was a project coordinator with CMI working with the DOD Air Force. I wrote SOW and SOP for the contracts and CRADA agreements. Responsible for the procurement of all lab supplies and for maintaining general lab readiness. Coordinated the research efforts between the contractors and government personnel. As a deliverable to the government for each month of the year I wrote the monthly reports describing the accomplished work and the ongoing projects towards meeting the overall goals and deliverables.

RIA Laboratory Supervisor – UTHSCSA – 2002-2004

Supervised the radio immune assays for all samples processed for the medical school research division. Established in-vitro methods for gene expression analysis utilizing RTPCR. Maintained the lab for all isotopes and supplies needed to run lab efficiently and to keep on budget. Trained post-docs and Military officers on how to properly run RIA and RTPCR.
