Stepped in to drive all aspects of HSE management for the company, including HSE culture improvements, providing strategic advice and direction for managing HSE in operations, drilling, and projects and their associated contractors. Collaborated with business leaders on the HSE plan, requirements, and progress. Directed the HSE assurance activities, identified key HSE issues, and managed the asset performance. Supervised multidisciplinary staff and sub-contractors, and reported regularly to the company’s stakeholders.

HSE Culture Change: Developed and lead a journey of HSE culture change from reactive to proactive through persistent observation, intervention, and constructive feedback. Developed first-ever leading indicator tools and standardized reporting of all incidents including process safety events to improve the HSE performance.

Process Safety Management: Lead the efforts to ensure that the company is compliant in the matter of process safety management including the development of safety cases and asset integrity processes. Promoted to drive the HSE performance improvement of the North Kuwait Jurassic Gas project, lead all HSE management activities in partnership with various internal teams. Prepared the operations HSE case for existing assets and statement of fitness requirements. Directed HAZOP, HAZID, QRA, and ALARP demonstration meetings. Fostered positive partner and stakeholder relationships.

HSE in Projects: Lead risk assessments and ALARP demonstrations and finalized record of HEMP studies carried out to assure technical HSE integrity of the assets. Lead the H2S risk management efforts including simultaneous operations (SIMOPs). Supported KOC in the development of Emergency Response Procedures to deal with H2S risk. Lead the development of the EPF50 plant Bowtie model.

Risk Management: Managed the delivery of the required HSSE documents including the HSE plan, risk register, and impact assessment reports. Supported the development of new bids by providing local experience, lessons learned, and generated new initiatives.

HSE Culture Improvement: Spearheaded a positive HSE culture change in KOC utilizing great tact and influencing skills.

Specially requested to lead the HSE function in the projects hub in Qatar. Managed the provisions of all HSE support to the management team including compliance with the regulations, operational HSE, environmental performance, emergency preparedness, and continuous improvement. Collaborated closely with projects personnel.

HSE Management System Implementation: Developed and implemented HSSE management systems, processes, and safe systems of work according to company and international standards (ISO 9001, 14001, OSHAS 18001, OSHA, EPA, NFPA …etc.).

HSE in Projects: Provided technical HSE support to the Commissioning and start-up organisation. Managed formal HSE reviews such as HAZID, HAZOP, HEMP studies, EIA, and ALARP demonstrations. Managed the process for obtaining necessary regulatory permits and consents.
