In the most basic approach, I am the CFO who is accountable for the administrative, financial, and risk management operations of the company, to include the development of a financial and operational strategy, metrics tied to that strategy, and the ongoing development and monitoring of control systems designed to preserve company assets and report accurate financial results.

Qualifications:

•I have 20+ years working as a CFO/Controller and am a long-time member of the FICPA

•I’m an entrepreneurial self-starter who is comfortable working in a fast-paced environment

•I have a BA & MBA in Accounting with 20+ years of experience in public accounting or corporate accounting

•I have experience designing, implementing, and managing financial accounting and ERP systems

•I have strong communication skills with the ability to communicate complex accounting terms to senior executives, audit committee, and across the wider organization

•Experience in managing high performing accounting teams of at least 5 people

•Up-to-date knowledge of Microsoft Office and current financial and account applications; NetSuite, Oracle, Fund EZ, QuickBooks, Tax reporting software, and spreadsheet programs

•Deep expertise in relevant accounting and control practices and experience with general ledger functions, month-end/year-end close process, and financial reporting

The company is a multiple Class investment property and management company with locations in Florida, NC, SC, and PA. Including hospitality, residential, commercial, real estate, construction, inventory, retail and wholesale. In this capacity, lead six direct and 15 indirect employees within this firm employing 240 employees in 5 states.

We have construction, survey and engineering crews in several states and all accounting, scheduling, inventory and payroll/1099 is handled here at my office in Central Florida. We are contractors and we built everything from roads to luxury housing. We build airplane hangers and multi-family residences. We also maintain and repair everything from buildings to AC and everything in between.

Recruited, hired and on boarded three new direct reports in the past 12 months. Training and coaching to bring staff to full productivity quickly. Responsible for directing and assuring the integrity of multiple client accounting system conversions into web-enabled Oracle financial platform. Conduct detailed, complex financial analysis utilizing various systems providing reports to leadership and assuring fiscal integrity. As required, prepare and review journal entries, conduct account analysis and perform balance sheet reconciliations. Reconstruct accounting records from clients' checks and cash receipts. Provide timely actuals, forecast and budget data for IT and corporate management. In addition, draft, review and then issue financial statement compilations before being approved by partners. Continually work with managers on all levels at the project level to ensure expense plans are achieved.

Accomplishments:

Proposed and published metrics and KPIs to be incorporated into the monthly financials and scorecards, improving financial reporting, understanding, and accountability of metrics.

Identified potential cost savings, and successfully reduced 2018 property tax bills by $1.1M which had an immediate impact on cash flow and profitability.

Reduced 2018 TPPT bills by $375K, again impacting productivity.

Refinanced mortgages totaling $149.5M in 2018 reducing interest costs and terms.

Identified $575M of utility overcharges and negotiated with providers which created an immediate surplus of cash for operations.

Our company built and maintained all of our buildings and we were one of the largest construction companies in Upstate NY when it came to building for others including government contracts at the City, County, State and Federal level. The team consisted of with 15 direct and 50 indirect reports including functions inclusive of human resources, buying, marketing, operations, advertising, accounting, credit, and promotions. During tenure, organized and managed due diligence processes in preparation for the sale of a business unit. Appointed to serve as a member of the Executive Management Team. Provided support, experience, and leadership to the organization, analyzing consumer buying patterns critical to the development of purchasing and inventory management plans. Monitored and analyzed sales records and consumer purchasing trends, identifying trends.

Accomplishments:

Recruited to this organization with the intent to close down this unprofitable business. Identified potential and within six-months, began to improve profitability, sales, merchandising and operations aligned to scale. In addition, negotiated with vendors and debt-holders to restructure payments and secure additional lines of credit.

Director and VP of Merchandising

Served as a Member of the Executive Management Team. Conferred with store managers to obtain information about customer needs, preferences, and merchandising opportunities. This organization was in the midst of expansion and required processes and operations to scale to a multi-store format. In addition, based upon location of stores, there was a significant need for innovative marketing targeted to a specific market which was successfully achieved through credit card merchandising bring affordable credit to all market segments. This concern now has 15 stores.

Accomplishments:

Identified difficulties the company was having in scaling operations from single to multi-store; created

marketing, sales plans, operational protocols and unique guiding principles that set the organization forward to continued expansion to 15 successful stores.

Creatively developed a unique credit card marketing proposition targeted to prime store markets that brought credit to many who would not qualify, and built significant loyalty to brands and store. Achieved this while maintaining excellent product and operations margins.
