Aurora Public Schools
I am responsible for facilitating learning and teaching in an integrated, inclusive preschool classroom and have experience with teaching ELLs in Title 1 schools. My duties include planning and implementing childrens’ educational programs; supporting and following through with childrens’ IEP goals and accommodations; planning and facilitating small and large group instruction; performing daily administrative functions; supervising Preschool Para Educators; attending IEP staffing; attending ECE staff development trainings; writing childrens’ progress reports; communicating with staff and/or parents regarding childrens’ progress; conducting parent conferences and tending to the personal needs of children (ages 3 to 5 years) . I am also certified in Teaching Strategies Gold and have a level 6 in PDIS. I am the facilitator for the Incredible Years Parenting Program, which is a social emotional curriculum. I have been part of the Colorado Preschool Program Advisory Committee (CPP) as well, which discusses the Aurora Public School Early Childhood Program including experiences, needs, and areas of support that go along with the state and Board of Education.
I supervised and monitored the safety of children; prepared meals and organized mealtimes and snacks for children; helped children keep good hygiene; changed the diapers of infants and toddlers; organized activities and implemented curriculum that allowed children to learn about the world and explore interests; developed schedules and routines to ensure that children had enough physical activity, rest, and playtime; watched for signs of emotional or developmental concerns in children and brought the concerns to the attention of parents; kept records of childrens’ progress, routines, and interests. I often helped preschool-age children prepare for kindergarten. I taught children how to play, problem solve, question, and experiment and taught social skills, language and other academic skills. I also worked with school-age children before, after school and supported them during the summer.
La Petite Academy Teacher/Director
I was responsible for the daily operations of a daycare center. I ensured a safe and educational environment for young children, managed teaching staff, developed curricula in coordination with teachers, communicated with parents, and upheld the center's reputation. As a teacher, I often provided diverse basic care needs, including supplying proper nutrition, performing cleaning duties and dealing with behavioral issues. I also occasionally had the task of speaking with parents about a child's educational development.
