System Operations Manager over a team of 3 (local and remote), however preferring a more technical role I chose to be the Lead System Architect. Since then I have continued to lead and mentor others in my group.
Managed System Operations team for System i platforms to maintain security, update system software, message notification system for application error reporting, and data replication to secondary systems with Mimix. Made sure systems were prepared for DR exercises and performed same, including switches for hardware upgrades. Participated in five (5) datacenter moves including planning and actual performance of tasks. Planned and implemented hardware upgrades every 3 years and worked with all vendors to make it happen.
·Transitioned IBM Pureflex Power 7 to stand-alone Power 8 and Power 9 systems in two datacenters
·Trained additional system operator from scratch
·Implemented SD-WAN infrastructure project replacing MPLS network at 60 branches with software defined WAN solution.
·Implemented IBM Pureflex systems with X nodes and a Power node for AS/400. Setup all in-chassis networking for a 160GB datacenter backbone network.
·Implemented Bsafe (now Enforcive) Security software for the System i to improve system security and auditability
·Planned and created Single-Signon environment for corporate System i user access. This eliminated password issues on system for a large base of users. Maintenance programs were also created for this to ease administration.
·Responsible for maintaining and managing exchange of data with all trading partners. Due to the nature of the business there a large variety of ways in which the data is exchanged.
·Managed AS2 data exchange infrastructure using GXS Bizmanager with interface to Trusted Link EDI product.
·Managed and maintained our Websphere MQ setup for exchanges that required this.
