To Hiring Manager,

Please accept my resume and cover letter in consideration for Technician - Materials Technology position.

I have received my Master’s Degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Alberta in 2012. Prior to that, I worked as a civil engineer in Pars Compressor Ltd. in Iran as a structural and foundation designer for two years. I was involved in designing structural units, foundations, and developing structural drawings of different gas stations. I have employed SAP 2000, ETABS, SAFE, and other software in engineering designs and AutoCAD to draw and modify engineering drawings and provide As Built drawing layouts at different stages of projects. My field data entry, estimation spreadsheets, and part of my design calculations were always professionally developed using MS Excel and MS Word.

Also, I was working as an Engineer-in-Training (EIT) in Civil and Material testing department of the GEMTEC Consulting Engineers in Ottawa. I performed different soil and concrete testing and I was in charge of reporting the test results for soil, concrete, and asphalt for number of projects.

During my study at the University of Alberta, I performed detailed laboratory experiments, used Data Acquisition Boards (DAC), Acoustic Doppler Velocimeter (ADV) and Dissolved Oxygen (DO) probes, employed dimensional analysis technique and prepared technical reports as a graduate student. After my graduation, I worked as a research assistant at Lakehead University in Ontario and conducted laboratory experiments on the hydraulics of Labyrinth and Gabion weirs. I also modeled water surface variations in presence of bridge piers and culvert design using HEC-RAS model. I then worked as a full-time laboratory analyst (LEVEL II) in water and environmental department of the ALS Environmental Group in Thunber Bay, Ontario. I conducted different laboratory tests to measure water and environmental parameters such as BOD, COD, TSS and I was involved in modifying, developing, and standardization of some experimental procedures during my appointment in ALS Group.

My educational background and my work experience enable me to employ engineering fundamentals, formulas, and design concepts to analyze and design different components of building and hydraulic structures. In addition, my experience in writing reports during field observations and coordinating with different engineering disciplines enable me to support different engineering projects. As an experienced team player, I enjoy collaborating with other staff members and I bring a positive and dedicated work ethic to any work environment. I am an excellent trainee who achieves success by working closely with teammates and I look forward to developing and improving my skills. Based on my educational background and my work experience in Canada, I am confident that I will bring a wealth of transferable skills that would greatly benefit this unique position.

I believe, I have the skills, enthusiasm, and reliability required to be a strong asset in your team. I welcome the opportunity to meet with you for further discussion about my qualifications in more detail. You can reach me at 613-***-**** or by email at adc6uq@r.postjobfree.com.

Kind Regards,

Ella Azizi
