Dear Hiring Manager,

I’m writing to present myself as a candidate for any open position as sandfill master on one of your international projects. Attached to this letter, you will find my resume and relevant documents. As you can see in my resume, I have 32 years of wide-ranging international experience on maritime and coastal construction sites all over the world. I have been involved in all aspects of a reclamation area, from the very beginning of a project until the end phase. I have led teams during the initial bush-clearing. As the land fill is being built up, I was the foreman of the earth-moving machine operators, and of course I know how to operate many types of bulldozers, excavators and trucks myself. I have been in charge of the installation of dredge pipes, as well as many other activities related to port construction, such as building quay walls and dikes with rock dumping, concrete or sheet piles. But my experience is not only on land. I have worked together with – and also on board of – all types of dredgers: large trailing suction hopper dredgers, cutter-suction dredgers, and backhoe dredgers. I have assisted many repairs on these ships, and I have been there during drydocking of these vessels, or the smaller auxiliary ships, often coordinating the painting teams. As yard supervisor in Port Harcourt, Nigeria, I managed teams of local employees in their diverse and wide-ranging activities, all related to the support of ongoing dredging and land reclamation sites. Dredging and land reclamation can be a tough environment, and I know first-hand about the risks that come with the heavy machinery that is needed. So safety is always a primary concern for me. During my career I was lucky to work in a great number of countries, sometimes in dangerous areas. In those places where the circumstances are the most difficult, you often find the closest teams, and I have always enjoyed being a team player.
