As the director of HSSE North America for Ledcors Civil, Mining and Infrastructure I am well versed with supervising HSE personnel on a multitude of sites and keeping those teams current on corporate programs.

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

Sincui Minerals, Chile – (2010 – 2015) 5 year contract as CEO as well as overseeing all HSSE on site responsible for all areas of the ‘’PSSP’’ (Project Specific Safety Plan) and the Environmental Impact Assessment (DIA)(RQA) in both English and Spanish and Government approval of both.

Ledcor Head Office: Vancouver (Civil, Mining, Infrastructure Division) (2009 – 2010)

Ledcor is one of the leading construction companies in Canada with 16 offices in North America and 5000 employees.

Position – Director Health, Safety & Environmental Protection – North America (CMI) reporting directly to the President with a dotted line to the VP HSE Corporate. I was hired to drive the HSE program for CMI, readily accepted bottom line accountability for North America, within six months of leading this team consisting of 26 HSE Managers, new programs, training and other measures were put in place and the TRIF fell substantially to 1/6th of the previous year. I personally oversaw the building and managing of HSE senior managers, managers and safety coordinators. Setting and controlling budgets, performing onsite audits to bring all sites to gold standard by developing programs and rolling them out to all staff as well as reviewing all content for ongoing training of staff. I was directly responsible for putting together 6 major projects ‘’Project Site Safety Plan’’ ‘’PSSP’’ and making sure that all employees were trained, had appropriate knowledge and were in fact using that knowledge on all jobsites by observing and auditing those sites. These projects included the ‘’PSSP’’ for highway projects, run of the river dams, Hydro projects, coal mine projects, copper gold projects, wind power projects, bridge projects, etc. I was responsible for training and mentoring First Nations construction companies on the HSE plan and its implementation to build the roads including FSR roads through untouched wilderness. This included wildlife, streams, environmental concerns, etc. I was also directly responsible for writing the Environmental, Health and Safety Plan for a major Coal Mine in British Columbia. This included from mine conception, road building to the site, site construction to active production, production and handover to the owner. HSE programs included, hiring and training of all staff regarding HSE, monitoring and updating all power point presentations on HSE, Auditing the sites HSE programs on a regular basis, Setting up emergency response protocols, mine rescue teams, reporting formats, government regulations, first nations communications, government environmental team communications etc.

During my time with the company, I achieved a substantial decrease in TRIF’s, which translated to huge cost savings for the company.

I traveled extensively to maintain and identify lagging indicators and leading indicators. Provided training, knowledge and expertise to senior managers and managers to be passed on to employees at each respective job site. Worked closely with the prime and sub contractors to meet or beat our Corporate HSE programs and ‘’PSSP’’.

Certified all employees in WHMIS, TDG, BBS, BBO and numerous other areas such as Confined Space and Fall Protection when required

Established annual budgets and monitored expenditures.

Attended weekly executive meetings, HSE Senior team meetings, strategic planning meetings and performed incident investigations on all serious ‘’near misses’’ and actual events.

This position was eliminated in the Vancouver office as mining was winding down in British Columbia. I was offered a major ring road expansion project as Director of HSSE but declined as it was a 4 year commitment to one project. I wanted more diversity.

Quantum Murray LP (2006-2009)

Position--Regional Manager Environmental, Occupational Health & Safety

I was hired to provide leadership to HSE managers, supervisors, CSO’s and emergency response teams in British Columbia, Yukon, North West Territories and Nunavut.

QMPL is the largest providers of Emergency Response, Hazardous Materials abatement, Demolition, Metals, and Remediation companies in Canada. As the Regional Manager I was required to be the Chief Safety Officer in charge of all Emergency Response. I maintained a Level 2 (Secret) government of Canada security clearance for work in very high risk operations. During these operations as the Chief Safety Officer, I conducted IDLH incident investigations and gave my findings to the appropriate government officials. IE) (Work safe in BC) as they are not trained in certain types of incidences and defer to Certified Emergency Response Technicians which I am. As well, there were certain circumstances where government officials needed to assess an IDLH project from the inside and it was my responsibility to train these individuals on suiting up, Self Contained breathing apparatus use, and 3 stage decontamination procedures when disembarking and all other pertinent information including entering and working closely with these persons while at risk.

Medisys Corporate Health Services Inc. President Co- Founder (1986 – 2003)

I started what became the largest Occupational Medical Services Company in Canada with 7 offices and over 1000 employees. MCHSI had over 4000 corporate clients at the provincial and National level. I was President of the company until 2003 when we took it public and I sold my shares.
