My duties as the Substance Use Disorders Specialist/Case Manager for the HUD/VASH (Housing and Urban Development/Veterans Assisted Supportive Housing) program include but are not limited to; Acting as the subject matter expert regarding Veterans in our program who suffer from ongoing substance related issues that chronically affect their life and ability to reach the goal of this program which is self-sufficiency (see job description below for Social Worker-Case manager) . I facilitate recovery groups on the VA campus as well as in the community for the Veterans in this program, provide one on one counseling for individual Veterans, and assist them with their attaining their goals which will ultimately lead to them reaching the goal of self-sufficiency.

As a Community-Field Social Worker/Case Manager for the HUD/VASH (Housing and Urban Development/Veterans Assisted Supportive Housing) program my job duties include but are not limited to; providing services to Veterans in Homeless Supportive Housing Program by independently developing psychosocial assessments of the Veterans, developing treatment plans, and setting achievable treatment/care goals with the Veteran/family in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team members. Providing subject matter expertise on VA and/or community resources to colleagues and students, educating and mentoring the Veteran regarding the available services and assisting them in obtaining the needed services.
