Duties: Responsible for overall management of a QS 9000 (TS 16949) certified quality system; responsible for Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement efforts; responsible for developing and maintaining the quality and engineering information systems; responsible for all tooling and operation management; responsible for plant computer systems and databases.
Developed and implemented a QS 9000 quality system and achieved certification in 6 months.
Directed continuous quality improvement efforts that reduced the annual DPPM defect rate from 1,500 in 1998 to less than 10 in 2005, while achieving 99% on-time delivery performance to our customers.
Quality improvement efforts allowed Burgess-Norton to garner additional market share and acquire 100% of piston pin business from three of the largest OEMs.
Developed and implemented numerous quality, engineering and manufacturing information systems to streamline communication and decision-making, reducing paperwork by more than 50%.
Implemented shop-wide statistical process control utilizing VSPC© shop floor software for real-time data acquisition and control -- resulting in a 10% overall capability improvement.
Initiated Continuous Improvement projects that allowed the plant to maintain profitability while seeing a 20% net sales decline between 2000 and 2003.
Continuous improvement efforts resulted in a 40% reduction in labor costs (from FY 2000 levels) while realizing a 60% net volume increase in fiscal years 2005 and 2006.

Duties: Management of Quality Assurance Department
Resumed all duties required of the Director of Quality Assurance (see below).
Due to restructuring of Southwest Tube Division, I was asked to resume the duties of the Director of Quality Assurance (see below). I concurrently maintained responsibility for Quality Assurance at Southwest Tube and overall management responsibility as General Manager of SSCM.
After assisting Webco's cutting division as an in-house consultant, I was asked to manage the operation in January 1997.
Redesigned the process flow at SSCM to create Lean work-cells, resulting in the elimination of high levels of work-in-process inventory, the enhancement of capacity and flexibility, the achievement of higher levels of quality and delivery performance, and substantial improvement in the financial performance of the operation.
Investigated alternative production machinery, ultimately selecting and gaining capital approval for the purchase of machines that resulted in a 300% capacity increase, a 50% reduction in direct costs, a substantial improvement in productivity and quality capability with a payback of less than two years.
While continuing as General Manager of this operation, I was asked to oversee QS 9000 implementation and certification for two Webco manufacturing divisions (with a total of more than 350 employees). Certification was achieved (for both facilities) in ten months.
Integrated and unified the quality systems at multiple manufacturing facilities -- allowing consolidation of responsibilities and providing consistency within quality improvement efforts.
Managed the internal audit process at each facility.
Initiated cross-plant audit schemes that improved the effectiveness of the internal audit process.
