Working with. M/s AEGIS LOGISTICS LIMITED at Gujarat Pipavav Site Aegis Group owns and operates a network of shore-based tank farm installations for the receipt and handling of bulk liquids. These terminals are in Mumbai, Kochi, Pipavav and Haldia, and are connected by pipelines to various berths for handling the export and import of hazardous chemicals, petroleum products, and petrochemicals. The terminals are certified to ISO 9001:2008, ISO 14001:2004 and OHAS 18001:2007, have an excellent record of safe operations, and are fully equipped with modern firefighting and safety equipment conforming to all Indian regulations. Aegis Group is a leader in the sourcing, shipping, and distribution of LP gases (LPG and propane) into India. The group handles more than 700,000 MT of LPG per annum and expects this to continue rising as India’s demand for energy increases. Services offered include complete supply chain management from product planning, sourcing, and shipping, through to receipt, storage, and despatch by pipeline and tankers to the point of consumption. Aegis delivers both pressurized and refrigerated cargoes to several major ports on the coastline of India, including at its own LPG terminals in Mumbai and Pipavav.

Responsibilities: -

H.R functions: Manpower Planning, Competency based Recruitment/Selection, Induction/Orientation, Organizing in-house/ external training & employee Developmental programs e.g. Programs on Team Building, Quality of Lift, Performance Management I.e. Performance improvement by Performance measurement as per SMART sign-off. Motivating employees &Morale through organizing a list of cultural, sports, educative & entertaining events involving the participation of Staff & Workmen such as Annual Day Celebration, Sports Day, New Year’s Eve get-together, Maintain Employee's Information Systems (HRIS), design employee Retention Schemes, Employees’ Counseling & Career Guidance.

I.R and legal functions: developed & maintained a grievance Redressal Forum, Handling, Disciplinary Cases & Actions according to factory act, Negotiations with Union for long-term settlement thereon, maintaining harmonious relation. Attending & handling Court matters: preparing status of different cases, study cases, representing Management in Court/Tribunal and co-coordinating with the empanelled Advocates as well as Legal Consultants.

Instrumental Key member in outsourcing various support activities by proper Contract Labour Management.

Wage and salary administration: Managing Pay-roll package, periodically survey, review and advise suitable Pay Package for all category of employees. Control/Reduction of manpower/manpower cost.

Welfare Function: Canteen Management, Recreation, Medical Care, Local Community Development, organize Sports/Games, Annual day, Social gathering & event management, Pooja etc.

Statutory Compliance & Liasioning: With various statutory authorities, e.g. Inspector of Factories, Provident Fund, Govt. Labour Officer, Labour Welfare Board, Employment Officer, Apprenticeship Adviser, Local Administration.

ISO, ISO Documentation, SOP of departmental activity, Safety & Environment: Representative from HR dept. for ISO 9001 – 2008 & I.S.O 14001-2003. Co-coordinator for effective implementation of Safety and Environment Policy in the Company.

Security & General Administration: Security Admin., Housekeeping, Staff Colony, Guest House, Estate Management, Transport & General Factory Administration.

General liaison Labour Deptt., Industry Deptt., Electricity Board, Pollution Control Board & other associated Government authorities. Involved in local community development activities.

Major Achievements during working with ALL

I had initiated a drive to bring down the incidence of absenteeism, late coming and early going by organizing a sustained contact programme with our supervisors with the aim that they would provide onward counseling and preventing to the chronic absenteeism, late coming and early going. This had yielded visible improvement.

Initiated proactive actions to build healthy I.R.

In the wake of mechanization helped to greatly reduce the number of contract laborers in the manual loading and unloading operations in terminal as well as jetty operation by devising a mutually acceptable separation scheme. This has led to 45% deduction of contract labors.

Introduced Quality Circle at Shop Floor.

Established harmonious relationship between the Management, Staff members and the Workers. Redressed the grievances of employees and improved their morale.

Settled many old cases, which were pending before ESIC, RPFC and Labour Court/Tribunal.

Conducted compensation survey and suggested suitable wage structure to the management, which was subsequently accepted and implemented in the Organization.
