Roger is an Innovative and Experienced Geosciences Engineer with excellent technical and analytical skills substantiated by 35 years of working experience on which about 20 years as employee at Elf/Total major E&P companies which allowed him working in Cameroon and in France and 15 years international career working as Freelance consultant in the field of Petroleum Exploration, Fields Development and reservoir management and Production of crude oil in the Central African countries. (Congo Brazzaville, Gabon and Angola) within national and international independent oil companies at various management positions.

Roger led consecutively at Somoil, Exploration Department, Reservoir Department and Subsurface Engineering Department in Angola. He performed various obligations related to the position of head of each department in charge and supervised over 15 employees.

Roger was also in charge of Reservoir & Development Geology Team at Sonangol, Angola National Oil Company.

Roger specialized in leading the Geosciences and Subsurface teams and activities for National and private E&P Oil companies in Angola.

Roger main function was oriented and specialized in leading the Geosciences and Subsurface teams & projects, and in the monitoring all G&G activities to support of reservoir and Production teams of the national oil company Sonangol and then of the E&P private company Somoil in Angola.

Relevant Work Experience

June 2017 to Present: Somoil S.A. Angola. Position: Senior Reservoir & Production Geoscientist

Has initiated geoscientific working strategy and operational approach based on geological concepts and in compliance with Reservoir management and petroleum engineering new standards to improve oil recovery and optimize production of FS/FST.

Completed reserve-oriented field reviews and identified bypassed pay opportunities reviewed current understanding of the remaining hydrocarbon distribution in the reservoirs and then draw remaining hydrocarbon maps.

Has Led & Achieved Subsurface engineering projects comprising Reservoir and Development Geology methods, Petrophysics and Reservoir modeling to remediate reservoir specific problems.

Updated existing static models appropriately to reflect latest views and built new ones for other structures to a better understanding of behavior and performance of the reservoirs associated to those structures.

Benefits: Results obtained served as a guide for classifying and securing projects by minimizing risks, thus highlighting operations with added value in terms of convinced production gains.

Designed and develop the annual work program of the division including range of well intervention operations, candidate wells for workover, proposed solutions for well remediation and improvement of reservoir management procedures. Support operations such as intervention log correlation & perforation depth selection.

Provided technical support to subsurface and production optimization teams in identifying & working on adding production opportunities.

Results: Operations were then oriented to the main fields of assets and appropriate workover plan were proposed. Well intervention and Workover resulted in adding production allowing halting the decline rate of those mature fields.

Has mentored Angolan teammates in most of the Subsurface Engineering techniques.

Sonangol DIREE/DGGR: Position: Senior Geoscientist / Senior Development Geologist

Operated asset: Provide technical liaison with blocks 3-05A and 3-05 as a reservoir geoscientist. Closely involved in the Caco-Gazela development projects and the redevelopment of the Bufalo and Oombo fields.

Follow up of GAZ-102 and CAC-101 drilling preparation and field evaluation.

Subsurface supervision of Bufalo 103 drilling operations.

Sonangol DIRD: Senior Geoscientist position: Subsurface Development Geoscientist and Geomodeller.

Non-operated asset: Liaised between Sonangol P&P and Block 20 and 21 operators. Worked in partnership with Operator Cobalt to secure Sonangol P&P standpoint on the development procedure of Lontra, Orca and Cameia prospects.

Sonangol Project: PIEP Onshore Kwanza

Main project features: “Rejuvenation of abandoned oil fields”

Activities performed: Work undertaken that best illustrates capability to handle the tasks Assigned was achieved through 4 main steps:

1)Reviewed Geology framework of all the fields including Seismic to calibrate the structural features.

2)Reservoir management analysis through scrutiny of existing wells

3)Past production analysis for all the old producers

4)Drilling feasibility and Facilities status assessment.

Main Geoscientist achievements:

Concluded and ascertained oil segregation process and recombination of dispersed oil after 25 years of hibernation; have conducted to a good and concise evaluation of the remaining reserves after over 30 years of production before embarking on a revitalization scheme. Fields were found very segmented by sealing faults.

Isolated bypassed plays and lost compartments within some abandoned blocks.

Found reserves beneath existing reservoirs and attic areas higher than existing production.

Proposed three infill drilling locations. Isolated seismic structures were anticipated to be charged with hydrocarbons and those wells were proposed at optimum locations.

Sonangol Operated asset: DIRD geoscientist Liaised with Blocks 3-05A and 3-05 teams to provide Geosciences support to those assets’ development team in the development of the Caco-Gazela field consisting in Subsurface supervision of Gazela 101 drilling operations; fields evaluation and maturation of GAZ-102 and CAC-101 drilling opportunities.

Mentoring Angolan junior geologists.

August 2008 to August 2013: Somoil S.A. Angola. Position: Senior Geoscientist & Head of Departments

Had ensured Geosciences managing role during the transition period from FINA to Somoil. Setting up of the technical organization especially Geosciences and reservoir segments.

Had Provided technical leadership to the internal multi-discipline and integrated teams comprising petroleum engineers, reservoir engineers, Petro-physicists, geologists, geophysicists, drilling engineers and HSE specialists from head office during the technical evaluation and approval stages of business development opportunity and project implementation and approval.

Has led successively three Departments Geosciences Department, Reservoir Engineering Department and Subsurface Engineering Department according to changes in the organization of the company.

In this, had fulfilled various functions and obligations related to the position of head of those departments for which I was in charge and the engineering of the various projects involved, notably:

Somoil Development Division: Head of Reservoir Engineering Department / Head of Subsurface Engineering Department.

Originated Mature-Fields Revitalization studies - Efficient coordination to revive our Mature Fields.

Realized successfully rejuvenating mature fields projects carrying out several integrated multidisciplinary studies of FS/FST reservoirs to provide detailed reservoir description for reservoir modeling and to develop additional new well and workover opportunities aiming to increase production. Completed reserve-oriented field reviews, secondary recovery candidate review and identifying bypassed pay opportunities.

The studies resulted on five spots:

Enhancing Comprehensive Geologic Framework of main fields based on 2D seismic and detailed well log correlation

Field-wide petrophysical evaluation focusing on variables in each of the wells over the Pinda intervals.

Finalized Reservoir Characterization providing maps of porosity, permeability, water saturation, net pay, hydrocarbon pore volume, Lorenz coefficient, structure and depositional facies. A network of cross sections illustrating the structure, stratigraphy, and continuity of reservoir units and flow barriers.

Comprehensive analysis of Reservoir Performance and Observations focusing on analysis of some of the production performance behavior on the main fields.

Define Development Opportunities consisting of seven types of workovers, three field extension areas and five new drill opportunities to increase production in a newly defined fault block.

Outcomes: Results obtained served as a guideline to select appropriate remedial solutions, to set new perforations at suitable intervals. Workover resulted in adding production allowing stabilizing the production rate of the assets.

Somoil Exploration Division: Head of Geosciences Department

Had originated innovative working process to generate prospects with high rate of success incorporating sound engineering reasoning, as well as production and economic analysis.

Supervised and completed geological & geophysics studies to evaluate the Tertiary Pinda oil reservoirs of onshore FS-FST assets, for Somoil S.A. Has Generated drilling opportunities through creative use of all geological / geophysical resources Has recommended and drilled over 8 drillable prospects with a rate of success of 75%.

Carried out Geological Models of main structures of the FS/FST asset to support Reservoir and Production team achieving Subsurface mapping, stratigraphic modelling, fault modelling, facies channel modelling, petrophysical modelling, trend modelling and estimated oil-in-place using volumetric and statistical methods.

Performed geological and petrophysical reservoir description including Evaluation of quality, heterogeneity, pay, and reservoir continuity, using all available geological and reservoir engineering data.

Provide geosciences support for Analysis and improvement of current reservoir-management practices - Anticipated and predicted future interventions on wells and/or fields (enhanced-oil-recovery screening).

January 2008 to August 2008: Fina Petróleos de Angola. Position: Senior Geosciences Team leader

Updated the Static model by means of new seismic interpretation, well data as they come and petrophysical and Production data.

Responsibilities included: Updated Structural Delineation of existing fields - Safeguarding appropriate Development strategy for Somoil during the transition period - Implementing a substantial development and appraisal drilling program. It was also dedicated as Reservoir engineering support during deviated and horizontal drilling wells activities and in the elaboration of the workover programs - G&G inputs were also provided as tools for the assessment of fields production - Define new drilling opportunities.

Benefits were, optimizing the production performance, identifying opportunities to locate additive well locations, ascertaining reserves values and extending the areas for new drillable locations.

The model identified a drillable prospect with estimated additive reserves necessary to match the production of 1MBO. Support: software Petrel modeling

Oct. 2006 to Oct 2007: Sonangol P&P, Angola Position: Senior Operations Geologist

Consultant Geologist for Sonangol P&P: Part of Well Planning teams consisting members from Exploration and Appraisal and other Asset and Functional support segments.

Had played pro-active role in the planning and design of safe and effective two oil and gas wells and had supervised the drilling phase.

Performed the following tasks: Interpret and evaluate geophysical and geological datasets to identify and characterize geological risks associated with the planning and execution of those 2 offshore wells through the entire overburden, from seabed to reservoir, as it relates to well planning and execution.

Geo-pressure Analysts: I had captured opportunity to apply new or improved technology within the team: Experiment running advanced real time pressure modelling software, ''Predict'', during the drilling phases of those two wells and had assist in mentoring and on-the-job training of other team members as new technology was introduced.

Well Execution: Executed pre-spud meeting and all pre-job activities. Monitored real-time geological and mudlogging data survey during drilling operations. Supervised and quality controlled the services company’s personnel (Mudlogging and drilling measurements LWD) and in real time advised the drilling personnel at the rig site about formation changes and/or if any geological or drilling risk is detected as required by well planning and Drilling procedures.

Mentoring: Mentored on-site a group of well site geologists and less qualified company’s operation geologists during drilling operations.

Post drilling activities: Evaluate all the features to improve Sonangol P&P’s drilling program from planning, execution and surveillance. Creating and delivering clear and concise technical presentations to both internal and external stakeholders.

May 2002 - Oct 2006: During the period, I have started Freelance experience working with Maurel & Prom, in Congo Brazza and Gabon as Senior Operations Geologist, then with Prestoil, in Congo Brazza as Senior Geologist & Well testing supervisor before joining Perenco Oil & Gas as Senior Reservoir Geologist.

1999 - 2002: Total/Elf E&P Douala Cameroon: Senior Geoscientist/ Exploration & Development Geologist

Senior Development Geologist working within a multi-disciplinary team across several blocks played a lead role in the identification and implementation of development options for Elf & Total assets. Experience across the various aspects of development geoscience, including sedimentology, structural geology, reservoir description and characterization, reservoir modelling, infill well target evaluation, well planning and production well management. Prospect Generator with robust seismic and attributes analysis experience. Expertise in clastic seismic stratigraphy and abilities in the generation and the usage of seismic attribute analysis for lithology, porosity, and fluid type prediction.

Responsibilities included:

Provide geoscience input to multi-disciplinary projects, from frontier exploration through discovery appraisal to field development and production.

Performs discipline-specific interpretation and analysis using appropriate, state-of-the-art techniques to provide Best in Class solutions for others companies segments, (Reservoir and Production).
