During graduate school, visited geriatric and bed-bound patients. During graduate school, helped serve food to the poor, the homeless, and low-income school children of D.C. As part of a 5-person team, used DNA Masters and Phamerator (genome annotation and analysis computer software tools) to identify protein coding segments of a bacteriophage genome. Performed heuristic analysis to assign potential functions based on similarity in their composition to known bacteriophage genes. The complete annotated genome of 267 genes was published on NCBI’s Database and presented in a poster presentation.
