July 2016 - Dec. 2016
Deseret Industries - Productions Assistant
● I first worked in the small-as-is department and I would sort donations and decide if they were in good enough condition to sell. I would put them on gray carts, and once the cart was filled, I would bring the cart over to go out on the floor.
● I was then transferred to clothing, where my duties were pretty similar. I would determine if the clothing donations we received were nice enough to sell. I would smell them, and if they stank, I would run them through the washer, if they were past the recovery point, I would decide if I should throw them away or not.

● I would bag groceries and then offer to help the customer out to their car.
● There were some other things that courtesy clerks do, like bring in carts, but it being so soon after my accident, I wasn’t strong enough to carry out all of my duties. Education
August 2014 - May 2015
Alpine Transitional and Education Center- High school diploma - 2014-2015 After high school, I was enrolled at ATEC East in Lindon. I went there for 6 months before my teacher, Elizabeth Coleman, sat me down and told me they thought I was too capable for them to know how to help me. I continued the year, volunteering at the Orem Smith’s on State Street and the special needs preschool in Lindon next to where ATEC was. They’ve moved locations to American Fork now.
Lone Peak High School- Certificate of Improvement - 2010-2014 I started school here and went for 4 or 5 months, and then I went to live with my dad in Upstate New York, for a few months, I did not go to school out there, missing about two and a half months of school. When I came back to Utah, I wasn’t totally motivated to get back into school, resulting in me missing the majority of the spring quarter of 2011. We finished out the year, and I had a great summer babysitting for various neighbors and such. I went back to school in the fall and life was good. My parents then sat us down to tell us they were getting a divorce. I was somehow expected to take care of my younger siblings, clean the house, AND keep my head above water in school. Going to school wasn’t a major priority in my life. I got my license in December of 2011 and found myself not abiding by all the road laws. A friend of mine overdosed in March of 2012 and I was on my way to his funeral when this happened:

Shattered my pelvis, fractured my tibia-fibula, and sliced open the back of my head; resulting in a traumatic brain injury. Recovery was a snitch. But I did it. I’ll never be 100% again, but I very well could be dead. Take what you can get, right?
