Information Technology - Senior Manager, Agere Systems - October 2006 to May 2007

Manager of a 22-member team residing in Allentown and Bangalore. Responsible for the operations, performance and availability of the Business Information Systems in the organization which included multiple 11i Oracle installations as well as support for a wide portfolio of applications supporting many unique platforms and applications. End to end responsibility for the overall health and well-being of portfolio, measured on availability, performance and incident avoidance/resolution. Team resources include Database, Application, Unix Administration, Storage and an application support team. The 7 x 24 application support team responded to all SEV1 incidents within their scope, escalating to SME when necessary to resolve issues within the enterprise. Management of all aspects of change in the environments from Operating System and Technology, to Application and Database upgrades managed by the organization while complying to Sarbanes-Oxley regulations.

Information Technology - Technical Manager, Agere Systems - October 2000 to September 2006

Member of the 11i E-business Suite implementation team where I served as Manager responsible for Application Infrastructure. Areas of focus included delivery of environments, Load and Failure Testing, Release Management and Application availability. The timeline began with the initial installation of the first 11.5.9 VIS environments in April of 2004 commencing with Production cutover utilizing 11.5.10 CU1 release of the Oracle Applications supporting the E-Business Suite and Advanced Supply Chain Planning Modules in October 2005. Technologies applied during the project included NAS, SAN, Alteon Load Balancing, Extended Oracle RAC with private interconnect, Linux, HP-UX and Veritas SFRAC. Areas of responsibility included the management of a team including Oracle Application Administration and Database Administration, Unix System Engineering and Oracle Consulting. Post implementation, retained operational responsibilities for applications 11.5.10 applications base. Completion of Staff Augmentation and Outsourcing models realizing cost savings and service enhancements. By partnering with an outsourcing provider in the Bangalore, India, within my organization a cost savings of approximately a half million dollars was realized. This arrangement required a decrease of domestic based staff and an increase in staff in the India region. By implementing this model, a cost savings of 60% per resource and the ability to provide support in a global fashion while limiting the on call responsibilities of domestic staff. Completion of Server and Storage Consolidation project resulting in a cost savings of 2 cents per share for Agere Systems. This activity required planning and execution of multiple stages in both the server and storage platforms. Included in this project was the migration from EMC Symmetrix to a lower cost Storage Area Network while incurring limited downtime to the production ERP environment and incurring minimal service degradation during the process.

Information Technology - Technical Infrastructure Lead - Lucent Technologies - December 1999 to September 2000

Technical Infrastructure Lead responsible for the availability and performance of the operating environment supporting the Enterprise Applications for Agere Systems. Main responsibilities included the availability and maintenance of the underlying infrastructure of the Oracle 10.7 ERP, Oracle 11i and assorted supporting applications. Responsibilities included availability and management of the entire infrastructure supporting the Business Applications.

Information Technology - Development Manager - AT&T/Lucent Technologies - July 1998 to November 1999

Responsible for the delivery and support of the Supply Chain Planning solution supporting Microelectronics Business Unit. During my tenure, 2 releases deployed on time and within budget. One, a major redesign to support independence from the implementation schedule of the Oracle Application Suite. Initial release was completed to enable the application to move forward, independent of the Oracle deployment timeline and provide new functionality needed by our business partners. Second release supported the total integration of the supply chain planning system and the Oracle ERP, interfacing data on a daily basis with complete dependence, suspending critical processing when information was not provided per schedule.

Information Technology - Software Engineer - AT&T Micro-Electronics - May 1994 to June 1998

Developed and implemented the redesign of the supply chain planning engine. The redesign included improvements in the utilization of system memory and the limiting the database interaction. The end result after modifications was a run time of 2 hours and the removal of the dependency of database availability.

Developed "back end processes" for the Supply Chain Planning application. These processes include networking applications for data collection, DB load utilities, (incremental and full refresh methodology) statistical calculations and interfaces between UNIX and Mainframe systems. Also includes applications to support business decision-making process.

Developed process to perform statistical analysis on product history to calculate yield and cycle times. This process utilized a 5-sigma outlier algorithm to evaluate each step of the bill of material, then integrated the updated values to the shop floor and process control systems. Values where then relayed to the order management system then used to provide reliable order delivery information to end customers.

Information Technology - Software Engineer - Computer Aid, Inc supporting AT&T Micro-Electronics - Reading, PA - June 1989 to April 1994

Designed and developed an automated data collection system. This system involved interfacing to various types of testing equipment along with communicating to a shop floor control system. The purpose of this system is to collect data, enforces testing procedures and to track the movement of product throughout the shop floor. This system is written in the "C" programming language using embedded SQL to interface to a local INFORMIX database as well as using UNIX IPC utilities to interface to a distributed shop floor database.

Supported the IMS to UNIX Conversion of an in-house Quality System. Environmental shift from Mainframe IMS to Unix based systems supported by the roll out of the AT&T branded 3B line of microcomputers. Developed user interface, data collection processes and underlying file based database design.

Information Technology - Associate Software Engineer - Atlantic Research Corporation - Alexandria, VA - November 1985 to August 1987

Supported the development of the Telephone switch management system. The system would allow the switch administrator to enter transactions via a “user friendly” environment with the updates being then made to the switch during the overnight. As well, the system provided detailed call detail reporting capabilities, highlighting abuse and allowing “charge back” to the organization for services provided.
