Layout Man / Fitter, Welder, Operator, Ultra Sonic Gaging, 06/1978 to 06/1984

Newpark Shipbuilding & Repair – Cypress St. Houston, Texas Carried out all layout, lofting and drafting of large fabrications, from barges to Work Boats to Dry Docks. Carried out fit & welding of assemblies for barge construction. Responsible for Ultrasonic Gauging of vessels during Coast Guard Annual Inspections. Operated pickers, hydraulic cranes, tower cranes, fork lifts, brake presses for shaping steel and numerous automated cutting & welding equipment.

Layout Man / Special Projects Fabricator, 06/1984 to 06/1988

Trinity Steel Fabricators – Pine Valley Drive Trinity, Texas Completed all layout work for fitters, hole punch, welding & assembly on structural components for the building & chemical plant industries. Hoppers, spiral stair cases, circle platforms, building rafters & columns, trailers, ladders, etc..

Shop Foreman / Manufacturing Engineer, 06/1988 to 07/2001

Solar Turbines / TurboFab Facility – 16504 DeZavala Rd. Channelview, Texas Managed up to 120 employees in a fast paced manufacturing facility, building structural steel base structures for Turbine & Diesel Engines, driving compressors, generators & pumps. Some weighing in at over 40,000 # each. Master scheduling of all product traveling through multiple operations with coordinated milestone completion dates for each operation. Responsible for shop layout and throughput / velocity of product. Traveled all over the United States to discuss design changes and manufacturability issues with customer engineers and establish new drawing structure to better support manufacturing. Responsible for quality, safety, delivery and cost of all product under my apron. Maintained a 95% on time delivery for over 12 years with backlogs of 600-700 projects ranging from 200 to 1000 hours per project.

Also programmed and maintained backup files and latest revisions for CNC burn tables and machinery, issued shop drawings to work teams to insure use of latest revisions and designed & built all shop tooling to hold tolerance..

Southwest Shipyard – Market Street Channelview, Texas Responsible for a crew of 7 people, who repaired and maintained all equipment, throughout the facility. Also programmed all parts for CNC burn table, Drafted all drawings required for prototype projects and lofted out and developed any complex shapes for special projects.
