PG Main Project

Title : Grid integration of 10kW Solar panel

Description :

Renewable energy resources such as wind and solar are more widely used for power generation. Photovoltaic panels are used to convert solar energy into electrical energy. The photovoltaic system consists of PV panels connected through DC-DC converter and DC-AC inverter to the grid. The IV and PV characteristics of PV panels are used to determine the MPP. The MPPT algorithm used for tracking maximum power is incremental conductance algorithm. In addition to operating at the international standards, three phase PWM inverter with PI controller is used. This project deals with the grid interaction of 10kW panel and the study of real power flow from the source to the utility grid.

Responsibilities:

1.The power deficiency problems in the old system were studied and analyzed.

2.The System was made to undergo various tests under open circuit and short circuit conditions.

3.Algorithms were created and the effective procedure was selected for the tracking of the maximum power.

4.Analysis and the system inspection were undertaken for the proper development.

5.Simulation works and proper testing were done to ensure proper functionality.

Duration : September 2015 to May 2015

UG Main Project

Title : Gesture Controlled robotic arm

Description :

Now-a-days robotic arm is used in various areas such as military, defense, medical surgeries, pick and place function in industrial automation applications. Based on the gesture of human hands the robotic arm moves and performs the task and this system replicates the actions of human hands. The arm is very flexible and can be made suitable in places where the environment is not safe for humans like firework manufacturing industry, bomb diffusing etc. There are various techniques for controlling the robotic arm.

This project deals with the accelerometer based gesture recognition for controlling the movements of the robotic arm through wireless control by using zig bee protocol.

Responsibilities:

1.Review of Requirements and Functional Specifications and effective material selection.

2.Manual Test cases were created to validate the functionality of the arm.

3.Conducted System Testing, Functional Testing & Regression Testing for the flexibility and movement of the arm.

4.Interacting with project team members while testing the Zigbee interface.

5.Effective defect tracking and reporting to improve communications and reduce delay.

6.Finding the bugs and trying to fix it for effective functionality.

Duration : January-2014 to April-2014

UG Mini Project

Title : Mobile control for Home Appliances

Description :

At present we live in a world that is filled up with modern gadgets and other electrical and electronic devices. At the same time the power demand has been increasing and we waste a lot of power in home. Today each and every individual is having a mobile phone and this project aims to reduce the power wastage by controlling the electrical appliances in home with the help of mobile phones. This can be achieved by the DTMF technology used in mobile phones.

Roles and Responsibilities:

•Pertaining problems related to power shortage were analyzed.

•Automation was carried out using Arduino control boards.

•Testing and analysis were done and bugs were rectified for proper functioning.
