Summary:
I am Innovative, and results-driven person seeking a challenging position
in IT. Solutions design, Infrastructure design, integration, and or UNIX
Systems engineering in the Atlanta Metro area. Utilized the Architecture
frameworks for ITIL, AGILE, and TOGAF. The last eight years performed IT
Architecture / Application assessments, and designed the new infrastructure
for two world class IT companies, IBM, and AT&T. Performed the migration,
and or consolidation of infrastructure through to the application layer of
UNIX systems to perform a complete migration to different server platforms
primarily Unix / Linux servers. "Cloud" VMWARE clusters running the Web
servers, and Middleware (Java Server Apps). Performed the integration,
and application migrations. Saved AT&T $5 million in SAN storage costs for
Oracle RAC. Prior to AT&T, I had over twenty years of UNIX
administration, engineering and integration, of networking, server,
applications implementation, and server support experience in the IT
industry. Currently studying Apache Hadoop 2.7.2. Received "Exceptional
Performance Award" from the United States - Office of Development and
Engineering.
Experience:
Senior UNIX Systems Engineer
WorldPay 02/2016 - 05/2016
Provided Migration expertise to client. Moving the entire data center to
new data center. Updating the Linux Platforms to be security compliant
with the PCI audit requirements. New patches, and RSA Keys.
AT&T ATTUID sc9947
06/2010 - 01/2015 Senior Technical
Solutions Architect in the ITO Planning and Design Group
Atlanta, GA
As a designer I designed solutions with the framework of ITIL for IT Data
Center Management guidelines. Also utilized TOGAF framework as the
defacto global standard for Enterprise Architecture for Open Systems
designs. Last big project I had at AT&T was the design of the re-platform
project of Yahoo search engine, and online services. Prior to Yahoo
project, I was primarily assigned Uverse Billing and CRM projects to design
(Teamed up with AMDOCs an AT&T Partner), and deploy replacement
architecture for HPUX, to IBM AIX systems, and then to Gen 5 X86 based
systems. These Migrations progressed from 250 Terabytes to 960 Terabytes
for the last migration. We designed "Cloud", VMWARE clusters for web
servers, and Middle ware servers and the "Bare metal servers" where for
Database servers. Setup Oracle RAC on Linux to significantly reduce the
overall cost to provide the required computer services for the business.
Created a conceptual design with all the details, and concepts explained in
order to facilitate the next phase of the Detail design performed by a
colleague, or myself. The Technical Solution Architect is assigned from
the beginning of the project, through all phases until accepted into
Production. Responsibility is to resolve any technical hurdles encountered
throughout the project.
IBM Global Business Services Serial # 4D4143 World Wide
02/2006 - 03/2009
Senior IT Infrastructure Architect Medical Online Documentation
Company St Louis, MO
Assigned as Project Lead for migration of servers from UK Data Center to
Rochester, NY for 70 business critical application servers. 50 Windows
servers and 20 AIX 5.1 servers. Provided weekly status reports of progress
and utilization of Engineers, and System Admins utilized in the project, as
well as a projected utilization of personnel for the upcoming week of
targeted accomplishments. Assisted with hands on as needed, and trained as
needed. Main project was to migrate and consolidate 2600 servers (MS
Windows 1700, and 900 Unix/Linux).Mitigated third party vendor issues to
resolve non-compliant setup of "cloned servers" to get setup of servers
back on track with schedule and requirements for Saint Louis based servers
(300 Unix servers). I guided the tasking of the Engineers, and System
Admins, and assisted as needed with the setup and troubleshooting of the
infrastructure for the target Data Center along with Global Services team
in IBM to align with their Data Center requirements.
"Project GREEN" (Internal IBM Project)
Internet Hosting Services, ECM project to migrate standalone servers
(Linux, AIX 5.1) to Mainframe (zOS) virtual servers. This is the highly
publicized "Project Green" to save energy by utilizing the Mainframe to
house approximately 900 virtual servers on one mainframe. I designed plan,
and migrated seven Web servers, two DB2 data base servers (DBA assistance),
and six IBM WebSphere servers with assistance from WebSphere Application
engineer's.
Senior Consultant at Nextel / Sprint
07/2004 - 09/2005
Senior Consultant in MAG5 Production support
Norcross, GA
I worked with deployment team to deploy the MAG 5 systems at the customer
site (Nextel Communications). We seamlessly transitioned into Production,
six instances of MAG5 totaling sixty-six Sun Solaris 8 Servers. Each
instance in MAG 5 contained a nine node cluster with 3 standby servers
(1280 Telco), and 2 Data base servers (6800's) clustered with VCS 3.5 MP3.
I configured redundant network interfaces for heartbeat, and service
groups. I was responsible for all infrastructure related support for the
network and server configurations during deployment. I have been acting as
the Infrastructure support for the MAG 5 servers at Nextel since September
2004 for Deployment, and Production. The environment contained Brocade SAN
switches connecting the DMX 1000 EMC disk arrays, CISCO 6513 switches,
configured for 4 separate LANs, not utilized as routers.
Nextel Communications 02/2001
- 07/2004 Norcross, GA
Software Engineer for Internal Tools group.
Installed Solaris 8, and customized the Service Center 5.0 application for
Customer change management. Service Center 5.0 is running on a HPUX 11.0 R
class server. Developed installation script in Korn shell to install a
problematic installation of CA's monitoring tool called TNG. This script
reduced install time from 2- hours to 20 minutes. Installed BMC Patrol on
many of the Sun Servers for long-term capacity planning purposes. Attended
40 hrs. training on NetQoS Super Agent in preparation to install on the
servers as well as the Report Generator to perform the transaction based
monitoring of the Network as well as the processing within the UNIX
servers. 800+ servers and 500 network elements.
Report generation / Email interface to Vantive CRM @ Nextel. Installed and
integrated Openview / Network Node manager into production environment as a
team. Performed migration of data from Sybase to Oracle in the "Cisco
Secure PPP" application to increase reliability, and maintainability.
Built, installed, and integrated the Safeword Servers, for corporate VPN
access to the network for all of Nextel's dial-up and VPN access, 17K
users. Rebuilt Cisco Secure server, a Sun 450 installed Solaris 8, Veritas
3.14 Volume Manager and installed Oracle 8.1.7 and Cisco Secure 2.3.6.
Programmed in Perl, Kshell scripting, Bourne shell scripting, Expect
scripting, and Awk scripting.
