Executive Assistant to the Vice President, Institutional Advancement - Howard University

Served as the Vice President’s chief liaison to the Board of Trustees and the president’s cabinet; prepared reports for the development and alumni relations committee of the board and also staffed the committee during quarterly and emergency board meetings. Prepared reports for and interacted with high level internal and external entities; Under the administrative direction of the Vice President, performed duties involving the coordination of the Divisions' four departments and the administrative direction of professional staff and general supervision of support staff within the Vice President's office; interacted with executive officers University -wide regarding programmatic needs in regards to fund raising; participated in the development and execution of fundraising and other administrative plans, programs and procedures of the Division; Conducted research to locate appropriate funding sources for projects to be conducted by internal staff, faculty or deans; initiated and coordinated special projects.

Principal liaison and fund developer for The Arts Visitation Program, a $300,000 NEA and privately funded project for providing seven HBCU's with highly accomplished artists-in-residence

University liaison to the American Red Cross; significantly increased the number of Blood drives and the number of units donated

Fund developer and treasurer for the Annual Howard University Golf and Tennis Scholarship Tournament; in peak year, raised over $90,000 in funds

Fund developer and staff coordinator for the Korean Initiative Program to enhance better cultural understanding between Korean and African American communities; among the many results: a $50,000 grant from the Korea Foundation

Manager, Division of University Advancement – Howard University

Due to vacancy in the position of vice president, appointed as Coordinator a position reporting directly to the President and to University Relations Committee of the Board of Trustees. Managed, and provided leadership and administrative direction for the division's efforts while the search for a vice president was undertaken. Provided direct supervision of the Division’s four departmental directors: Development, Alumni Affairs, and University Communications and Advancement Services. Designed and implemented short range plan for supporting the President's strategic goals of increasing alumni participation, enhancing image of the University, and increasing community outreach. Duties included management of financial resources of the Division, including budgetary responsibilities, and executing staffing and personnel changes. Planned and directed fundraising projects including year-end solicitation and special drives; provided fundraising advice to deans and faculties of the University's eleven schools and colleges and interacted with Office of Research Administration. As the University's lead advancement officer, endeavored to develop means and techniques for the promotion of a strong bond of loyalty and friendship between the institution and its constituents, including alumni, parents of students, supporters and others.

Responsibilities included researching funding opportunities and writing grant proposals to seek support for operational expenses and special projects; coordinating all marketing and public relations for the Center/Archive including the film festival/workshops, the Outreach Programs and other special project; organizing, and conducting screenings and lecture programs, writing articles for the BFCA newsletter, compiling mailing lists, consulting with clients on organizing film series, courses and festivals. Also, assisted in the designing of brochures, and handling of regular correspondence of the Center Archive; handling of administrative duties, including budgets and personnel. Held supervisory responsibilities for undergraduate interns and student volunteers.
