Summary:. Looking for Full-time employment opportunities. Pursuing Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Illinois at Chicago with an expected graduation date of May 2017 and existing GPA of 3.4
Academics:
Courses: Numerical Heat Transfer (Computational Fluid Dynamics), Heating Ventilation and Air conditioning (HVAC), Advanced thermodynamics, Conduction/Radiation heat transfer, Additive Manufacturing, Energy Storage
Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering (UIC) GPA-3.4 (May 2017)
Bachelor of Engineering in Mechanical Engineering (Pune University) 70% (June 2014)
Projects:
“Aqua Facelift”: It is a portable low cost river surface cleaning unit which has the ability to cut water hyacinth on water surfaces and collect all floating waste from water bodies (Senior year Design Project). My primary function was to perform buoyancy calculations and carry out CFD analysis of the unit to understand how it is impacted by the flow physics. Other tasks involved manufacturing the unit as well as writing an extensive report on the project.
Time developing flow in a lid driven cavity: Developed a two dimensional incompressible Navier-stokes solver based on the marker and cell approach by Harlow and welch. Programming was done in C++ and plotted using tecplot 360.
Time developing flow in a parallel plate channel: Numerical solution of 1D fluid flow problem was found by using each of explicit, implicit and Runge kutta 4th order method by writing FORTRAN codes for the same. It was compared to the exact solution obtained analytically and Velocity profile, flow rate and wall shear were plotted.
Two dimensional heat conduction: Obtaining the numerical solution of a two dimensional heat conduction problem employing the Rosseland Radiation model by modifying the provided Finite Element code using FORTRAN .
HVAC Design Project: Calculating the Peak Cooling as well as Heating loads of an imaginary apartment using analytical methods. The solution was then verified by using Revit Mep to ensure exactness of the solution.
Design and analysis of an all-in-one 3D printer: Model structure and simulation was made using Solidworks. Static analysis was done using ANSYS. (FDM extruder, CNC milling, Laser machining in one model)
Dendrite formation in rechargeable ion batteries: Wrote a comprehensive paper on the cause, effect and prevention of dendrite formation in rechargeable ion batteries using metal anodes like lithium, sodium, magnesium, etc.
Presented a comprehensive seminar on “Kinetic Energy Recovery Systems” in 2012
Member of the Steering design team in SAE SUPRA 2014, a formula car design and racing event held by SAE India
Skills Certifications
Creo, Solidworks, MATLAB, C++,MS Office, Fortran
Fortran, AutoCAD
Revit Mep, LEED Green Associate
Ansys ICEM and Ansys Fluent
Work Experience
Worked as a service advisor from July 2014 to January 2015 at Royal Enfield Motorcycles at Pune, India. This role included extensive understanding of the functioning of engines and general automobile parts as well extensive interactions with customers regarding trouble shooting and cost analysis of the vehicle repair.
Extra-Curricular Activities
Captain of the college soccer team during undergraduate years. Vice-captain of ‘Elan fc’ an amateur soccer club playing in the Poona District Football Association (PDFA) first division.
Founding member of Green Cell of the college, an organization committed to focusing on environment friendly solutions in areas like energy harvesting and recycling. We ended up reducing energy costs in the college by 10%.
Obtained a certificate in Resuscitation and basic First aid from the Rashtriya Life Saving Society (RLSS-India)
