OWNER/PRESIDENT SPORTING GOODS STORE JULY 2010 - PRESENT
I opened my gun store in Illinois and moved it to Indiana. Business did well in Illinois; however the laws are not as “firearm friendly” as Indiana. I am from Indiana so I decided to move back to my home state and open my store there. I built and expanded this business with only $2000 worth of inventory to a $1.5 million business. I had a very good business but as the bigger box stores moved in to the next county over, I couldn’t compete with their prices. I am also an NRA Certified Personal Protection in the home instructor, Pistol Instructor and Range Officer Instructor.
OWNER CONSTRUCTION COMPANY MARCH 1990 TO JAN 2010
I specialized in custom built homes and fixing basements and foundations of existing homes but also did many commercial projects as well. The commercial projects consisted of steel, metal frame buildings throughout the United States but mostly in the Northeastern States. I also remodeled fast food restaurants and medical facilities. I also was a working supervisor on multiple strip mall build outs in suburbs and in Chicago for cellular company. Jobs ranged from $30,000 to $2.5 million. I employed and managed up to 45 employees and generally had at least two projects going at once. I was a state certified abatement supervisor for the state of Illinois. I supervised mold, lead and asbestos abatement on certain state and federal buildings. I also owned and/or operated skid steer, backhoe, trackhoe, forklift, dozer, ect… When I realized the bottom was falling out in the construction industry, I decided to embark on a new career. My passion has always been hunting and fishing so I opened my gun store selling guns, knives archery equipment and such.
