Post – Dialysis Technician 18-12-2013 to 20-4-2015, in Fortis Hospital limited From 22-4 2015 Manipal hospital Bangalore still working

Roles and Responsibilities:

oPerforms total patient care during dialysis including monitoring vital signs, checking patient’s weight, connecting patient to monitors, psychological support to patient, and cannulation for dialysis and connecting the patient to dialysis machine.

oSets up machine for dialysis.

oMonitor for complication during hemodialysis, and manage them after informing doctors.

oHandling the catheters for hemodialysis.

oCharts the patient details and procedure details of dialysis.

oAssume the responsibility for the management of heparin free dialysis.

oPerforms the procedure of plasmapheresis.

oPerforms the various types of continuous renal replacement therapies.

oAssist the procedures like kidney biopsy, bone marrow biopsy, Subclavian, femoral and internal jugular catheterizations and pleural tapping and ascetic tapping.

oAssist the emergency intubations of the patients during cardiopulmonary arrest.

oPerforms peritoneal dialysis, continuous ambulatory peritoneal dialysis and trains the patient and bystander to do C.A.P.D. at home.

oRemoves internal jugular, femoral, Sub clavian catheters.

oTeaches the patient about the various aspects of dietary management in renal failure.

oPerforms dialysis outside the dialysis unit. (Eg: MICU, IMCU, CVTS ICU, CCU, ICCU).

o Assumes responsibility for the maintenance of the Hemodialysis machines and water treatment unit for dialysis.

oPerform dialysis fluid preparation and prepares disinfection solutions.

oMaintain medical and non-medical records, maintains inventory and keep adequate stock of all disposable and non-disposable items.

oAssume responsibility of checking the Dialysis Machines, monitors, ventilators, defibrillator, electrical items and motors, oxygen and suction panels and informing the concerned department in case of repair or replacement.

oMaintenance of Water treatment plant in Dialysis unit.

oAssist biomedical department during servicing of different equipment’s.

oReprocessing and reuse of the dialyzers.

oMaintain the cleanliness of the whole dialysis unit.

oTake classes for M.Sc. Dialysis Therapist students, renal nursing students and newly joined staff.

oAssign work to ward assistants.

oBe available for on call duties as per duty schedule.

oAny other duty in the department assigned by Senior Dialysis therapist, Nurse In-charge, Chief Dialysis Therapist and Head of the department.

oStudy of metabolic bone diseases in patients on maintenance Hemodialysis.

oContinuous Renal Replacement Therapy.

oContinuous Veno Venous Hemo Dialysis.

oDialysis machine calibration v Preparation of standard solution of dialysis treatment
