Disparate data sources and data targets.

Upgraded from BI/BO 4.1 to 4.2 to take advantage of the integration with SAP HANA where the infoproviders are optimized for SAP HANA and have direct access.

BOBJ Design Studio was used to create required Dashboards. Initial View Editor for SAP HANA and SAP BW for their Data Source. Used scripting to change some object properties.

Developed technical specification documents.

The OTC process reports were supported using a combination of LO and FI data such as sales documents,

customer master data, Material master, delivery documents, billing/invoicing and payments.

Utilized SAP’s Landscape Transformation Replication Server (SLT) for some of the real-time data replication from our SAP source systems to HANA for real time updates triggered in ECC.

Redesigned and developed new data flows, data models and ABAP programs for CRM to bring the existing architecture up to best practice standards and improve load and run times.

Migrated application servers to Azure cloud platform.

Used SLT where real time high volume data integration was needed to load ECC tables into HANA.

NLS was used for archiving historical data

I used the Toad utility to extract and analyze data in remote Oracle DB.

Hands-on design for ETL and development

MultiProvider Cluster Access was developed and used for non-persisted and in-memory data storage and access.

Dashboards were created in Design Studio where some XCELSIUS dashboards and elements were used

employing the APOS Dashboard Migrator. Used scripting to change object properties for Bex queries as a data source.

We built grouped BWA based InfoCubes in multiprovider clusters and unioned them together some with exception aggregation and some with standard aggregation. The mapping had to be homogeneous with the same key figures in order to be read simultaneously or would need to be read separately.

We designed and developed clustered infoproviders to reduce the load on the application server. BW will split the MultiProvider read access into single statements. Each statement is executed in a separate dialog process with typically 6 processes in parallel. The number of dialog processes required could be reduced when several PartProviders are clustered and read in a single statement. It also helped reduce the amount of data transferred from BWA to the application server: When executing the UNION between the PartProvider, BWA aggregates the data which reduces the amount of data.

As HANA architect, I designed and configured SAP HANA Live for CRM which was deployed and made available through the Self-Service BI component for SAP Business Suite. The calculation views for real-time operational reporting were created in HANA through the HANA Studio. We used the SAP-delivered content for creating delivered queries like Sales Orders, Service orders and Activities. Calculation views built on Attribute and Analytic Views were created in HANA to be used ad Virtual Data Models (VDM) for real-time operational reporting.

Project: Migrate SAP HR data to corporate EDW

BI ETL /Developer

Gather and document ETL requirements using Visio and Erwin as data modeling tools for the logical view of the data model.

A logical model was designed and developed from the requirement documents for the staging area and EDW using a combination of a de-normalized model for the master data and a star schema model for transactional data. This work was accomplished in the Aginity Netezza Workbench which is part of the IBM Netezza data warehouse appliance. This data model needed to integrate the OM and PA data with the rest of the HCM data. The OM data is object and relationship oriented and needed special consideration to integrate it with the rest of the schema. Applicable InfoTypes as well as payroll tables from the ‘Posting to Accounting Interface’ where used as source data.

A Physical data model was then designed and developed in the Aginity Netezza Workbench for the BI reporting solution.

This became the HR EDW and can be accessed from other corporate and enterprise systems. The de-normalized model allowed us to achieve exceptionally fast query response times with the IBM Netezza data warehouse appliance.

Data Manager Connector for SAP R/3 by IBM was installed with all Data Manager components on Windows computers in order to use the Wizard to build hierarchies.

Data migration from the SAP HR SAP Database to the EDW staging area was accomplished using IBM’s InfoSphere DataStage.

The DDL to create the staging tables in Netezza was leveraged from the DataStage tool. Data was moved from the staging area to the HR EDW tables using DataStage.
