Consulting Psychologist in Independent Practice in California, Colorado, and Arizona, focusing in three areas: (1) organizational and management issues in rehabilitation, correctional, and law enforcement agencies, (2) adult development, aging, and issues of death and dying, and (3) leadership and innovation in higher education.

5/93 – 12/93. Travel and study of Community Development and Urban planning at Ball State University in Indiana, the City of Buffalo, NY, the University of Arizona – Tucson School of Architecture.

7/92 – 5/93. Center Director and Chief Psychologist, Winslow Outpatient Center in community mental health services involving wide range of community agencies including Winslow Police

Department, Navajo County Sheriff’s Department, Adult and Juvenile Protective Services, Substance and Alcohol Abuse treatment, Domestic Violence programs, and Supervision of all Masters-level Counselors who comprised the Center’s personnel.

7/91 – 6/92. Bureau Chief, Department of Clinical Services, Wisconsin Department of Corrections, Madison, WI. Supervised bureau of over sixty clinical psychologists and psychiatrists statewide; worked with wardens and probation/parole officers across the state; oversaw development of programming for inmates and parolees, particularly in special areas such as sex offenders; met with Central Office staff frequently to engage in problem-solving, and revision of or development of new programming for the bureau and department.

6/91 – 5/92. Clinical Psychologist, Arizona Department of Corrections, State Prison Unit at

Florence (ASPC – Florence). Provided crisis intervention, emergency psycho-diagnostic evaluations, education and assistance to custodial staff on wide variety of units but particularly for a Boot Camp for young offenders and a Special Management Unit for offenders of all custodies whose behavior entailed removing them from general population.

9/90 – 5/91. Clinical Psychologist, Arizona Department of Corrections, Sate Prison Unit at Perryville (ASPC – Perryville). Provided crisis intervention, psychodiagnostic evaluations and, for appropriate cases, psychotherapy on this all-female unit; provided assessments for suicide risk and dangerousness regularly; organized staff case meetings jointly for counseling and custodial staff; assisted in medical assessments.

12/88 – 8/90. Clinical Director, Devereux Center - Arizona. Served as chief of the clinical staff for this adolescent residential treatment center for children and adolescents. Revised the center’s bylaws, provided leadership for the clinical staff, and coordinated clinical activities with work of other departments in the facility, including nursing, education, and the psychiatrist.

6/86 – 11/88. Contract Psychologist Positions: Contract Psychologist for California Youth Authority in San Francisco and Oakland providing evaluations for the court, psychotherapy, and case management for adolescent sex offender treatment programs;

Clinical Psychologist, Forensic Mental Health Treatment Unit, Contra Costa County, California section of the California Conditional Release Program for supervision and treatment of adult sex offenders

6/86 – 11/88 Faculty Appointments in San Francisco Bay Area: Associate Professor and Contract Faculty, California Institute of Integral Studies (clinical graduate psychology school); California School of Professional Psychology – Berkeley (clinical professional graduate school); and The Professional School of Psychology -- Lombard St., San Francisco, teaching graduate courses in Learning and Cognition in this independent graduate professional school

8/82 – 5/86 . Associate Professor of Psychology, University of Alaska – Juneau,, tenure-track

position; taught entire general psychology curriculum and devised and supervised all Masters practicum experiences; engaged in research and writing as well as community service

7/80 – 7/82. Tribal Psychologist and Program Manager, Hualapai and Havasupai

Indian tribes, Peach Springs and Supai, AZ setting up and supervising implementation of a grant for a comprehensive mental health center that I developed for the two Native American tribes

12/79 – 6/80. Clinical Psychologist, Arizona Juvenile Department of Corrections,

Adobe Mountain School, a juvenile correctional facility in Phoenix

6/80 – 3/81. Student of Trades and Construction Contractor for a large addition to my house in Arizona.

10/79 – 4/81. Clinical Psychologist and Intern for California Licensure in Psychology, Alaska Psychiatric Institute, Anchorage, AK,serving as the primary psychologist on the adolescent and intensive treatment units. This was both a state salaried position and was under supervision by the Chief Psychologist to constitute the requirements for a Post-Doctoral Internship for acquisition of Licensure as a Psychologist in California
