Summary
I am currently an elementary music teacher with an outside the box teaching philosophy but I'm ready for a career change!
My eclectic nature engages students and adults and inspires unexpected creativity in others. However, my intellectual curiosity has led me toward a variety of personal and professional experiences. Family is an important part of my life and when I’m not working I am supporting my family in a variety of ways as a wife and mother. When my children were younger, I took a break from full-time work to care for them and enjoyed attending Little Gym and Kindermusik classes with them. I have volunteered at my children's school and at my synagogue.
My wonderful husband is a composer and professor of music at ASU and we enjoy sharing our musical interests with each other. Earlier in our marriage he was an assistant professor at Stanford University and we worked together as Resident Fellows at Burbank House.
My daughter is a junior in high school and a gymnast, coach and singer. My fourth grade son is a computer enthusiast who aspires to develop his coding skills. Thus far my professional development and interests have focused on music, education and technology; however, I love trying new things and look forward to expanding my study and career options. Career specialties:
Orff-Schulwerk certificate of completion, ASU
Kodaly levels I and II, ASU
Masters, special education, SFSU
BA, music, Barnard College
Professional development: Finale, Smart Music, Audacity, Seven Habits of Highly Successful People, Love and Logic
Professional experience: use of PowerPoint in teaching, professional website management for student and parent accessibility
