COURSE PROJECTS

Real Time Priority Based Pre-Threaded Server Aug 2015–Dec 2015

• The server consists of a main thread and a set of worker threads with the main thread running at a higher priority than the worker threads. The webserver can serve both static and dynamic content.

• Each worker thread repeatedly removes a descriptor from the buffer, services the client, and then waits for the next descriptor.

• Inserted a delay of 30 seconds for the worker threads to emulate the execution of long-running threads.

TCP/IP Protocols Jan 2016–May 2016

• Creation of a LAN/WLAN network and using TCP/IP protocols to transfer files using the NS3 tool set up on Linux.

• Created three wired LAN’s and one wireless LAN. Each of these LAN’s consist of 15 nodes individually. All the LAN’s are connected to a single access point. Creation of a library to interface with UART Jan 2016–May 2016

• Creating functions for initializing the UART with specific parameters, transmitting bytes through the UART, and polling for received bytes.

Instruction Set Simulator Aug 2016-Dec 2016

• Created and demonstrated an 8 bit Instruction set simulator in C which simulates the execution of MIPS instruction set. It supported up to 8 types of instruction and had two modes of operation single step and run to completion.

Performance Enhancement Aug 2016–Dec 2016

• Optimizing performance through hardware performance measurements using gem5 process simulator and Linux perf tool.

• Increased the cache associativity for different block size matrix (16,32,64) to obtain a significant reduction in the overall cache miss rate.
