Used my experience in Severance Tax preparation and reporting for four States to advise and assist my supervisor (who was new), and train and assist eight other regulatory accountants in our department.
Met the monthly deadlines for the State Severance Tax reports for Texas, Kansas, Oklahoma and Colorado using Oracle and extensive Excel spreadsheets I developed.
Used my knowledge of the Oil and Gas industry to assure Oxy was reporting their tax liability accurately (according to regulations) and that revenue was accruing the tax liability correctly.
Researched incentives and saved Oxy up to $500,000 monthly applying tax incentives.
Prepared the annual Colorado Severance report along with the DR21W’s required for the applicable royalty owners.
Worked with the various State programs, such as, Petro, CONG, and KOLAR and maintained our lines of communication with the States.
Tested and Implemented departmental upgrades in the various programs.
Trained new accountants on reporting severance taxes and on the aspects of Oracle for each of these four States. ( I, eventually, became a project person.)
