Responsible for managing events to $1 Million, from cradle to grave.
Worked closely with the producer and technical producer to reduce costs.
Organized crews, travel, meals, shipping as well as any onsite expenses.
Mastered the art of on-budget event coverage:
-surveywith relevant production staff how the event was to be covered.
-explain to producer that we could not possibly afford what he was asking for
-negotiate best prices on each element of the event
-think on my feet, take advantage of spontaneous opportunities from a position of understanding the big picture
-deal effectively with the inevitable curveballs. A live sporting event is guaranteed to have moments where things go sideways. It was my job in consultation with the producer to fix them.
Accomplishments
-Developed reputation for strong negotiating skills. Examples include:
oSuccessfully managed all costs for the complex, live, cross-Canada, Hockey Day in Canada multi-game event, including the last minute relocation of games
oAs Production Manager for CBC’s coverage of the Canadian Women’s Open Golf Tournament, successfully negotiated agreements to bring the production in under budget

Meet with executive producer to go over the budget for an independent documentary.
CBC license fee of $75,000 would generate matching funds from Telefilm.
Meet with the producer and go over time frame, travel, editing, crew, etc.
Identify and itemizepotential savings, andwork with the producer to arrive at the final budget that would maximize the potential to attract the balance of the funding so that the project could proceed.
Continue to work with producers throughout production to ensure on-time and on-budget delivery of the projects.

- Worked with producers to get hundreds of documentaries into production and through the production cycle to delivery, for the high profile CBC documentary television streams The Passionate Eye and Rough Cuts
