Academic Project

Vehicle Roof Crush Simulation

oQuasi-static roof crush simulation based on FMVSS 216 test procedure was conducted on truck and car.

oHII-50 Dummy positioning and assigning of contacts was done in LS prepost and Hypermesh respectively.

oImpact analysis on truck and car was performed using LS-dyna solver and roof’s displacement in car and truck was observed.

oModification in design was done in order to reduce the displacement of roof in both car and truck.

Frontal Crash Simulation

oFEA simulation of frontal crash and 40% offset frontal impact of a car was done according to FMVSS 208 standards.

oHII-50 Dummy positioning and assigning of contacts was done in LS prepost and Hyper mesh respectively.

oSimulation was done in LS-Dyna solver, analysis and rectification of post-crash results such as HIC Index and CSI for dummy was done.

Side Impact Analysis on a SUV

oSide impact of SUV with pole was performed.

oSide air bag positioning, HII-50 Dummy positioning and assigning of contacts was done in LS prepost and Hypermesh.

oFull vehicle side impact assessment & studied the effects of material substitution (varying yield stress) of the side structure components on the vehicle.

oSimulation was done in LS-Dyna, the effects of reinforcements to critical components in side impact analysis were observed.

Side Impact Analysis of Sedan on SUV.

oSide impact of Sedan on SUV was performed.

oSide air bag positioning, HII-50 Dummy positioning and assigning of contacts was done in LS prepost and hypermesh.

oSimulation was done in LS-Dyna solver, the displacement in left door of SUV was observed and design modification was done in order to reduce the displacement.

Fatigue Analysis of a flip-chip Package

oModeling and meshing of the flip-chip package in Hypermesh.

oThermal stress analysis of the package, to do the fatigue analysis.

oCalculation and study the behavior of the thermal stress variation according to variation in the flip-chip package temperatures.

oFEM Tools used – ABAQUS CAE, Hypermesh and Hyperview.

Topology optimization of Rocker Arm in Push Rod Suspension System:

oModeled and preprocessed in hypermesh and analyzed for linear static analysis using OptiStruct.

oObjective was Minimum weighted compliance objective with a volume fraction constraint of 25%.

oThe weight of the component was brought down to 220.68 grams from the stock component weighing 918.58 grams.

oTools used- Hypermesh, Hyperview and OptiStruct.
