EXPERIENCE
Learning how to operate HAAS CNC Machining at Goodwin College. Where students are taught proper set up of machinery and how to conduct ourselves safely around them.
•.Practiced a 2 Axis Lathe and 3 Axis Mill. We focused on touching off on parts in x,y, and z using a .005 gauge and subtracting it out to find part zero for each axis and find part zero. Also we used the radius of the tool (ex. A flat endmill) to find center of the spindle or the radius of the stock you are turning to assure that the spindle is centered. depending on how your stock is cut before it is ready to set up. you may need to face all the sides of the part so you do not damage tools and to assure that the part will be cut to spec. Also you check the tools and machine that you are going to use before you begin to cut your part; another step in making a high quality part. Furthermore when setting your stock into the machine chuck you want to make sure that the part is secured in well and flush with no tools foreign objects left in the machine.
•.Preformed various tool changes. We did a few tool changes with the mill which for this one was a push of a button. it used a airlock kind of system to suck the tool holder up into the jaws of the spindle all we had to do was make sure that the holder and the spindle chuck were properly aligned.
•.Beginner level programming. we ran a few prgram small program of our own as well as a few pre set programs given to us. We used Master cam to draw create them.
•.we used both Micrometers and calipers.
