Several projects required the interpretation of Regulatory Rules and Regulations, educating the client of their requirements, establishing inspection schedules and maintenance protocols, as well as working with and training the client’s field personnel to ensure continued compliance.

Stericycle, Inc. 1999 - 2002

Facility Manager

Manager of a medical waste operation at Clinton, IL. This treatment facility has a capacity of 36 tons per day utilizing Simonds incinerators, state of the art, Title V compliant air pollution control equipment, and a waste water pretreatment plant. Direct responsibility over operations, maintenance, transportation, safety, compliance, sales, engineering and financial profitability resting with myself reporting directly to the district manager.

During my tenure at this facility production levels which historically had run at less than 1.6 million pounds per month escalated to continual levels greater than 1.85 million pounds per month with zero Notices of Violation. This increase in production was the result of the establishment of predictive/preventative maintenance programs, around the clock maintenance support, additional training of maintenance personnel, and cross training Operations personnel to perform and assist with required maintenance tasks during scheduled outages. As the Facility Manager I was responsible for 1 Office Manager with 3 full time and 1 part time Administrative Assistants, 1 Transportation Manager with 5 Route Drivers & 2 Long-haul Drivers, 4 Shift Supervisors each with 4 – 5 Shift workers, 4 Maintenance Technicians, 1 Environmental, Safety & Health Manager and 1 Sales/Customer Service Manager. Oversaw $1.5 million facility upgrade to meet Title V requirements at Clinton, IL.

Title V Project & NSPS Compliance Manager

Provide administrative assistance and guidance to all of Stericycle’s treatment facilities (13) utilizing incineration technology. Responsibilities include interpretation of existing and proposed regulations; interaction with and between senior management, facility personnel, engineering, external consultants, and Regulatory Agencies in order to receive and conform to mandated retrofit schedules and Operating Permits while maintaining practical and profitable operation of these facilities.
