A member of a team of consultants responsible for verifying the entire contents of physical securities held in customer accounts held in safekeeping at JP Morgan Chase. Communicated daily with senior management with progress reports and updates on any open discrepancies. Researched differences and reconciled any issues prior to project completion.

Consultant – Stock Plan Reconciliation
Morgan Stanley purchased the Employee Stock Purchase business from Citigroup. The business was converted to Morgan Stanley’s books in July 2012. Responsible for a team who oversaw and reconciled the employee Purchase plan. The plan inherited a substantial amount of breaks from Citigroup which needed resolution. In less than a year the plan is current, about 95% of the aged inherited breaks have been resolved. Was part of a team that developed multiple rules which were incorporated in RAPS, the reconciliation program, which made for next day matching and prevented mismatches going forward. Met all senior management deadlines on break resolutions. Worked with the business support group and middle office to resolve aged breaks.

Consultant – Security Lending Financing
In a consulting role, assisted in building a security lending cash management tool that reviewed a client’s security borrowing rates from their prime broker and compared the clients rate to:
•Lending Pit, a Sungard product that collects daily wholesale security lending rates and provides averages of real time, previous day and all open security lending position
•The averages lending rates, as distributed by competing prime brokers
Once the rates were compared, the client’s prime was informed and in some cases the rates were adjusted downward to provide the client with cash savings. Additionally an analysis of the entire portfolio was conducted reviewing the spread between the client’s prime broker and the two sources of comparison and over time the spread between them narrowed.

Middle Office and Operations (2007-2010)
Built and managed an operations department and middle office department, reporting to the firm’s Managing Members, for a start up hedge fund which invested in multiple products such as long/short equities, fixed income products, CDS’s, options/futures, RPX derivatives, commodities and FX products. Member of a management team which started a broker dealer that was primarily an options market maker.
•Instituted daily and monthly procedures for trade processing, trade clearance, daily position and portfolio reconciliations. Built automated processes which monitored and processed the each function.
•Effectively managed the development and on-going support for all of the Firm’s trading and OMS systems.
•Maintained strong ties with the managing members, portfolio managers and traders. Compiled daily and month to date P&L analysis and distributed to each at close of business.
•Filed all SEC required documentation pertaining to fund positions and portfolio size.
•Maintained a daily risk analysis for the fund and distributed it to the Chief Investment Officer.

Manager, Treasury Operations & Treasury Finance, Cash Management (2000 – 2006)
Part of a senior management team, reporting to the Director of Operations, with role of managing and forecasting daily funding requirements of broker dealer. Managed the daily funds transfers, bank accounts and relationships, OFAC screening, and external borrowing lines.
•Co-built online funds transfer application, which greatly reduced any operations risk for wire fraud. Application allows various business groups to input and approve all wire requests. Application has been lauded by compliance and internal audit for solid audit trail, approval limit maintenance and overall effectiveness.
•Developed a daily cash management-forecasting tool for broker dealer, which provided a reasonable benchmark of overall daily funding needs, which allowed more efficient early planning and positioning.
•Achieved better daily cash forecasting and funding analysis by developing daily P&L for the broker dealer which highlighted areas that needed improved cash / cost management.
•Integrated and designed a daily cost allocation analysis, which is crucial in determining any additional funding costs. It was also used as a tool to allocate extra funding costs which business created via their trading strategy.
•Achieved increased production and eliminated overtime by cross training and instituting flex work schedule.
Director, Operations Specialist (1998-2000)
Provided operational guidance to the firm’s arbitrage trading desk. Worked closely with business heads and business managers to help facilitate group’s strategies, which included both trading and security lending. The trading portfolio had balance sheet asset allocations of $10 billion.
•Insured that the various trading groups were funded at the correct levels by designing and building a daily settlement process.
•Worked closely with the security-lending desk to insure that any Equity Structured transactions were handled and settled properly. Identified and set up proper operations staff to become point persons to the business.
•Worked with management to insure that operations were ready to handle any new business initiatives.
Supervisor - Middle Office (1996-1998)
Managed a middle office team to reconcile daily cash and security positions between multiple clearing firms. Led a team of 6 to reconcile the existing portfolio positions and build a daily reconciliation tool to keep portfolio balanced between multiple clearing brokers. Cash reconciliation between various clearing brokers became a key ingredient as portfolios revenues were hedged against their funding requirements.
•Contributed on behalf of operations, to build a front end trading application that supported arbitrage-trading desk.
Supervisor, Cashier’s Department (1989-1996)
Supervised new accounts department and established procedures to mainstream the overall firm accounts. Developed plan to mass mail each account every two years to confirm status with firm. This enabled firm to delete any obsolete account while remaining compliant with the NYSE. Oversaw daily operation functions when firm decided to expand its role in security lending business. Firm became a full service stock loan firm.
