Senior Systems Analyst (2007-2016)
Providing technical solutions for clients utilizing the CyberLife Insurance application written in COBOL, Assembler and Smalltalk (an object oriented language) accessing data from various data sources in mainframe and client/server environments. Major projects have included technical analysis and tailored modifications for variable life insurance products and annuities specific to New York Life. Member of the mainframe production support team and graphical user interface (GUI) team. Provided 24/7 support insuring availability of the system at the beginning of each business day. This allowed the users to provide support to policy holders and agents.
Responsibilities also included generating ad hoc reports, enhancing existing products, analyzing and fixing abends, and being a member of a team that provided 24/7 support.
Made tailored modifications of a subsystem used to keep client contact information between CyberLife and supporting applications in sync in a real time process. This was accomplished utilizing CICS/Cobol to generate online transactions to update client information after being fed from a centralized name and address database.
Developed and enhanced of major CyberLife business functions. Creating new process for Automatic Voluntary Income Purchases for variable annuities offering another option to increase future value for policyholders.
Composed functional and technical specifications for major modifications to the CyberLife GUI explaining functionality to users and developers.
Modified application to comply with corporate operating system upgrade to Windows7. This encompassed reengineering the application and deploying the package, while also maintaining the application’s compatibility to the prior operating system during the multi-phase implementation. This enable to the company to continue to operate seamlessly during the transition to the new operating system.
Packaged the Windows based application for deployment using Flexera Software’s InstallShield 2012 Spring Professional edition.
