Current Job Objectives

I work in a psychiatric ward providing both indoor and outdoor psychiatric services to patients keeping in view recent updates and holistic approach. I am able to lead a psychiatric team comprising of resident doctors, psychiatric nurses in liaison with psychologists and social workers.

Key Responsibilities:

Adolescent, Child & Geriatric Psychiatry:

• To provide professional care to indoor patients & rehabilitation of patients related to substance abuse

• Clear & accurate diagnosis

• To treat children who have learning disabilities, problems related to adolescence and mental disorders

• To diagnose & treat patients with emotional, mental and behavioral disorders

• To prepare complete data on patients' family, symptoms and medical history

• To examine the physical condition of the patient by following standard medical procedures

• To plan and design different treatment procedures by consulting health care professionals i.e. social workers & physicians

• To explain the form of treatment to patients' family and relatives

• To provide treatment & arrange follow up on outdoor basis and regular outdoor services to day patients

• To deal with emergency psychiatry cases and behavioral disturbances of violent patients

Liaison Psychiatry:

• To accept clinical referrals from medical and surgical emergency and other departments such as neurology, medicine and other clinical departments

• Maintaining liaison with other medical specialties for additional input regarding patient care as required

• To be able to identify co morbid medical and neurological conditions and develop a liaison with the concerned specialty for better patient care

• To lead the ECT team

• To present cases during the academic ward rounds & weekly clinical conferences held in the department

• Topic presentations on regular basis

• Presentation of journals as part of academic activity and updates on recent psychiatric advances

• Participation in teaching programs for medical students, junior residents, general practitioners and nurses

• Key presenter in various clinic pathological conferences related to psychiatric cases

Administrative Responsibilities:

• To conduct multidisciplinary meetings to plan for safe, effective and holistic patient care

• Effective communication of clinical information to patient and family in timely manner.
