I returned to my knowledge base of energy trading, marketing, and management, by establishing a consulting company to service the needs of my industry contacts. My energy knowledge and expertise have been sought out by state- owned companies from the U.A.E. and Canada; and multiple energy trading companies from the crude oil and electricity markets. I have provided a variety of services to these clients ranging from trading room location and design, energy procurement and forward curve analytics, trader talent evaluation prior to hiring, and confidential investigations of corporate risk policy violations.

ENTRPRENEUR May 2005-April 2013 During these years, I managed my investments, speculated on real estate, both residential and commercial, and bought and sold a construction company of 60 FTE’s and $6 M in annual revenues.

ONTARIO POWER GENERATION CORP.; Toronto, ON, Canada February 2001_November 2004

Senior Vice President – Portfolio, Fuels, and Trading

P&L responsibility for $6B in annual revenues

Recruited by former DTE Energy Trading customer to restructure entire commercial area. Directed procurement and transportation of 20M tons of coal, 25 BCF of natural gas, and 2M barrels of residual fuel oil annually. Held full responsibility for all generation outage maintenance planning/coordinating; hourly and daily generation dispatch decisions, bidding strategies, general emissions management, wholesale/retail power hedging and speculative trading decisions. Supervised structured product development, forward curve modeling, and price forecasting activities. Managed $25M annual capital projects budget. Liaised with senior management, logistics, operations and commercial trading teams on day-to-day operations. Reported regularly on business updates and activities. Led management team of four VPs, with responsibility for staff of 275 FTEs and 24 PTEs. Served on Corporate Risk Oversight Committee.

Key Achievements:

Implemented all commercial and reliability management decisions for 22K MW power generation portfolio, third largest fleet in North America at that time, with $6B in annual revenues and $1.2B+ EBIT.

OPG executive having full responsibility in spearheading the May 1, 2002 opening of the Province of Ontario to deregulated electricity pricing. My departments at OPG led the successful transition of the Province in deregulation that met all financial and informational targets and specifications by managing $40M, two-year project. This included establishing and operating the beta test site for system and software integration; conducting multiple presentations and demonstrations to the provincial electric providers, as well as, the participants located outside of the Province.

Achieved 174% of 2002 business plan target with $238M additional incremental profits. This performance encompassed a 265% year-over-year improvement in coal profits representing $166M increase by renegotiating coal procurement, renegotiating all coal rail and barge transportation contracts, streamlining company’s existing operational inefficiencies, and making strategic trading decisions regarding usage of natural gas versus residual fuel oil during the winter of 2002.

Lowered company expenses, while meeting union raise requirements by negotiating successful union agreements with Society of Energy Professionals and Power Workers Union that included reduction in force.

DTE ENERGY TRADING, INC.; Ann Arbor, MI December 1996 – January 2001

I was specifically recruited by the regulated utility, Detroit Edison, to establish their unregulated power marketing entity. As the founder and sole employee of the enterprise, my responsibilities entailed all steps necessary from tariff acquisition; to building space selection and leasing; through floor design and build-out; risk policy/procedure development and approval; selection and installation of risk operating system; benefits/compensation planning, and all talent acquisition necessary to assure the successful outcome. I led a management team of four VPs and provided oversight for 75 FTEs. I served on the Corporate Risk Management Committee.

Key Achievements:

Orchestrated successful paradigm shift in corporate mindsets and successfully obtained Board approval for power marketing business plan, power marketing tariff status, and parent company approval for business and compensation plans.

Launched and grew company from single employee to 75 FTEs, $3B in annual revenues, and $80M in profit in less than five years.

Vice President of Crude Oil Trading

P&L responsibility of $1.9B in annual revenues

Hired to restructure the commercial enterprises of a 150,000 bbl/day pipeline/ trucking, oil gathering and supply company. My key objective was to integrate Crude Oil Futures Contract dimensions into an existing physical Oil Market Portfolio, thereby, changing the entire pricing mechanism.

Developed and installed new Inventory Hedging Strategies to existing oil inventory practices.

Established Index Pricing Techniques from the crude oil futures contract to the physical Lease Crude Purchases Contract.

Successfully turned the company around by posting a $45M profit in the first year of the new pricing venue.

Active member of the Company Steering Committee formed to sell Permian when a hostile takeover of the Parent company took place.
