OBJECTIVE
Engineering Manager
SUMMARY
** **ars of manufacturing engineering experience in addition to a Ph.D. in mechanical engineering. Demonstrated ability and skills in translating business vision into successfully implemented solutions. Six Sigma Green Belt and Lean Manufacturing Expert. Well versed with project management principles and used them in managing large engineering and manufacturing projects. Managed planning, implementing and executing strategic projects at General Motors, Honeywell and Boeing.
KEY PROJECT
Developed and implemented a parametric die design and machining system for the implementation of UG solid modeling technology in the design and macining of stamping dies and body shop tools. These technologies saved $ 30 million in tool and die construction costs annually. This project was awarded GM Manufacturing Center’s Excellence Award in 1995 and 1996.
INDUSTRIAL EXPERIENCE
2015 - 2016 – Commonwealth Center for Advanced Manufacturing, Richmond, Virginia
Accomplishments: Provided leadership in research, development and implementation of machining process improvements for aerospace engine and structural components using high temperature materials.
2013 – 2015 - New Hampshire Ball Bearings, Inc., Peterborough, New Hampshire
Accomplishments: Managed the manufacturing engineering department and the tool room in supporting the fabrication, assembly and testing of ball and roller bearings. Established a rigorous lean philosophy and project management methodology to improve the processes to support manufacturing of ball and roller bearings. Initiated an integrated engineering project and designed a ball bearing, a roller bearing and a complex ball bearing and reduced the cycle time from 26 weeks to 8 weeks.
2009 – 2013 - The Boeing Company, North Charleston, South Carolina
Accomplishments: Managed the manufacturing engineers in developing installation plans (including wiring diagrams for the airplane) and supporting the assembly of Boeing 787 Dreamliner aft body and mid body. Supported the configuration of the airplane. Managed the dimensional engineering group of the aft body.
2006 – 2009 - Honeywell International, Rocky Mount, North Carolina
Accomplishments: Managed the manufacturing engineering department in developing manufacturing routings for the assembly and testing of fuel control products used on aircraft and helicopter engines. Managed the support of SAP in production.
1983 – 2006 - General Motors Corporation, Detroit, Michigan
Accomplishments: Developed a Computer-Aided Processing System for Engine Components and Transmission Components based on comprehensive machining fundamentals. Developed and implemented a strategy to implement Unigraphics (the GM Core CAD/CAM System) at the GM Manufacturing Engineering suppliers.
1980 - 1983 - The Ingersoll Milling Machine Company, Rockford, Illinois
Accomplishments: Responsible for the development of cutting tool geometry and machine tool requirements for automotive materials like cast iron and aluminum and aircraft alloys like titanium and steel.
1978 - 1980 - Micromeritics Instrument Corporation, Norcross, Georgia
Accomplishments: Managed the engineering of three new particle technology and liquid chromatography products and introduced them into production.
