Duties: Developed and implemented a grant project to provide Mental Health services to children who were diagnosed as Seriously Emotionally Disturbed. Supervised tow case managers and on office assistant and managed a budget of $95,000. Assisted UNC-Chapel Hill in developing a case management curriculum for use in training students enrolled in their under graduate program. Developed and maintained medical records for all clients.

Piedmont Behavioral Health, Concord, NC

Case Manager/Therapeutic Homes Coordinator- January 1986- July 1990

Duties: Provided case management services to children who had been certified by the State under to old “Willie M” classification. These services involved developing plans of care, connecting families and children to local resources and advocating for their rights. Also provided case consultation to vocational rehabilitation, schools, courts, and other community agencies that were having difficult redirecting negative behaviors. Recruited, trained and supervised therapeutic foster families to care for these children in their homes. Provided supervision to one In Home Services Coordinator.

Tri-County Mental Health

Lead Counselor/ Group Home Director - December 1982- September- 1985

Duties: Assisted with the development of one of the first High Management group homes in the State for children certified under the old “Willie M” classification. Developed and implemented the residential program for 5 males utilizing the Teaching Family Model. As Group Home Director, provided leadership and guidance to 10 teaching parent staff, screened admissions and coordinated discharges. Also maintained medical records for all residents.

Nazareth Children’s Home

House Parent/Social Worker- March 1981-December 1982

Duties: Supervised 12 girls in a residential program. Became one of the first group homes to admit the newly certified “Willie M” classification of children. Attended IEP meetings, treatment team meetings and transporting to appointments. As Social Worker, Supervised 4 house parents and 2 cafeteria workers. Provided weekly group meetings and individual counseling sessions.
