ERP Director EBS Maintenance

Played an instrumental role in overseeing multi-site installations of Oracle ERP system throughout the US Steel Corporation across all North American Flat-Rolled and Tubular Plants.

Developed and implemented equipment maintenance policies that reduce breakdown and improve equipment longevity. Focused on the US Steel Corporations Maintenance Solution and standardized business processes.

Excel in organizing and coaching personnel to work effectively in teams. Utilized key business metrics, interviews, and legacy CMMS to close existing gaps within enterprise operations.

Leveraged extensive training in standardized business processes to improve and monitor use of new reporting system in Oracle. Directed and trained reliability engineers and managers in application of this new data into other core systems (Delay Tracking) to improve equipment reliability, product cost, and optimized maintenance.

Maintenance Team Lead ERP Project

Led a team of 12+ US Steel maintenance professionals across all over 18 plant locations to determine the USS ERP maintenance solution requirements and streamline operations. This enabled millions of dollars in savings.

Assembled business cases to purchase two “bolt-on” applications for Work Order Scheduling and Printing efforts greatly enhanced productivity and effectiveness of maintenance planners. Consulted with several Oracle customers to gain their insight and experience before approaching Senior Management for authorization.

Worked closely with Oracle liaisons to develop a relationship to address our business needs and future product desires. Participated in Open World conferences and eAM Maintenance Summits hosted by Oracle to gain insight and knowledge for other similar Oracle business customers.

Collaborated with accounting, human resources, purchasing, and materials management teams to coordinate the solution with their designs. This enabled us to use system triggers for transactions that would normal require human intervention.

Developed specifications for facility-wide interfaces, extensions, and reports that were beyond the standard "out of the box" Oracle eAM maintenance solution.

Partnered with 20+ onshore and offshore developers to test and debug entire solution prior to plant installations.

Created training materials and courses for maintenance planners, expeditors, and managers.

US STEEL CORPORATION, Ecorse, MI 2003 2008

Division Manager Maintenance and Services Great Lakes Works

Charged with overseeing central shops, transportation, energy, and utilities for entire integrated Steel facility.

Initiated resource sharing across all locations to maximize internal manpower utilization and reduce contractor spending. Streamlined manufacturing support operation by standardizing all processes, systems, and procedures.

Identified key areas for improvements after USS took over ownership. Formed the Railroad Accident Prevention Team (RAPT) to identify root causes for injuries, derailments, poor switch time performance, and delayed hot metal delivery.

Consistently met budget plans and exceeded additional stretch cost reduction targets through constant focus on new projects and questioning “the normal”.

Passed all ISO14001 and QS9000 audits with no non-conformances and was always able to demonstrate activities showing continuous improvements.

Developed standardized Maintenance Scorecard to track and report performance across all plant locations.
