As a traveler the past few years, I have come to see how similar everyone is throughout the globe. I have also spent the past few years finishing my Bachelor degree in General Science at Portland State University. My experiences with traveling, education, combined with years of volunteering in my community has given me the desire to teach and explore much further than I have ever before. The years I have volunteered with the youth in my community, have made me appreciate the skills I have to teach that age group and above.

Teachers that are most effective with their students have confidence in their knowledge in the particular subject which they are teaching. I would make it of high importance to make sure that I’m knowledgeable using the material I will teach each day and project that confidence upon the students. Patience is a significant quality that I have gained from my years working with young students. In my classroom, the learner would be empowered to attain the most from each class and the ability to improve upon it afterwards. I would present the material to the students yet allow them to engage with the material so they may learn the most. Patience and enthusiasm are the main qualities which I have developed thru my years of organizing youth camps. If I was not enthusiastic about the camps and activities which I was leading, then my audience would have sensed it and thus they themselves would have not been excited about being at the camp. I made sure that the youth were engaged during the camps thru various activities such as physical movements, teamwork, clear instructions and space to develop their ideas.
