Employment History
2009-2012, ExpressMart – During this period, I worked at a convenience store/fuel center
2014-2016 with an Indian couple until their retirement and subsequent store closure. Our
workforce consisted of only three employees, and our shared duties were inter-
changeable and included (but were not limited to) cash accountability, product
ordering (fuel, ABC products, Virginia Lottery and all in-store goods) as well as
preparation of all external reporting documentation (e.g., quarterly sales tax
reporting, DEQ fuel monitoring, Virginia Lottery reconciliation reports, etc.). I
enjoyed ownership authority in each of these areas and greatly valued the trust
placed in me to perform those duties unencumbered.
2012-2014 EconoLodge of Carrollton – During this two-year period, I served mutual family
friends who opened a new hotel in Isle of Wight County, Virginia. I served as
Assistant General Manager and resided on site during an intense remodeling
period as well as providing oversite of the initial start-up operation (hiring, training and supervision of a three-shift staff of front-desk clerks, Overnight
Auditor, housekeeping and maintenance). This was a two-year commitment by
contract.
2005-2009 Kroger of Chester – Upon arriving in Richmond, Virginia, I was employed by
The Kroger Co. in the produce department. Duties included all phases of product
Management, from ordering to sales, including food handling safety training,
inventory and employee supervision. I was twice recognized as storewide “Employee of the Month” by my peers.

2001-2005 Way Station of Howard County – A subsidiary of Sheppard Pratt Hospital (Baltimore, Maryland), Way Station served a population of MR/MI adults
with a variety of diagnoses. Ours was a “clubhouse” therapy model which was
in fact developed by Way Station decades ago and since copied by other agencies
for its uniquely effective way of integrating a holistic and participative approach
to mental health/wellness. Our consumers consisted of self-identified, physician-
referred and court adjudicated adults in the Howard County, Maryland area. In
addition to my caseload of 10-14 adults, I also managed the pre-vocational
Kitchen Unit which was responsible for the daily Breakfast Bar and the daily
lunch program for the entire program population.
2000-2001 Liberty HealthCare – A contracted third-party provider by the State of Indiana,
Liberty HealthCare trained and subcontracted mental health professionals
throughout the state’s psychiatric hospital network. After a rigorous six-moth
training program, I was accepted a six-month assignment at Muscatatuck State
Hospital in North Vernon, Indiana, where I served the residents of Lincoln Hall,
a unit of high-need men and women (segregated by floor), each of whom was
dual-diagnosed and considered low-functioning.
1982-2000 Hanover College – Upon graduation, I was invited by the College president to
join his administrative team. I began as a counselor in the Office of Admissions,
where I was soon promoted to Assistant Director. I transitioned to the Office of
Development in 1990, in anticipation of the launch of a $60 million capital
campaign which exceeded its goal one year ahead of schedule. During the life of the capital campaign, I held the title of Director of Annual Giving. My oversight
included all phases of unrestricted gift activity. Thereafter, I was promoted to Assistant Vice President for Development, a post which I held until I left the
College in 2000.
