Brief: USC - OCDB tool is a vast system that is used to manage millions of residential as well as commercial energy meters all over America, Australia and parts of Europe. While USC is the front end portal made in Java, OCDB is the Oracle database back up. The entire system is located on Solaris 10 UNIX operating system.

The energy meters are capable of sending packet data over Radio Frequencies to the collector points which in turn push data to the central OCDB database. OCDB also has the logic of processing this packet data for meters depending on various business logics and present the on the front end, the USC portal. There are different kinds of reports that can be generated, various trends of energy consumptions can be deduced as well as billing of these energy meters can be done . The main customers of this project are the utilities who produce energy. They not only use this tool for billing purpose but also for various research processes.
