Eugene Welding consists of two divisions, a tube rolling mill division, and a storage rack manufacturing division, Called Space-Rak. The rolling mill division has four rolling mills with support equipment and a steel roll slitter. Their product of square and rectangle steel tubing is sold to steel distributors such as Alro Steel. Space-Rak manufacturers storage rack systems, both free standing and automated. Their end customers are Lowe’s, Home Depot, Target and many others.

My responsibilities at Eugene Welding consisted of direct in house design projects (re-design of washer dryer) and process improvement / cost reduction projects. Responsible for paint line and product quality and operating cost reduction. Develop and write production procedures. Supervise all aspects of plant maintenance and preventive maintenance. Required to do in house design for process improvement and quick change over for different products. Responsible for multiple plant facilities.

NEW PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT - PROJECT DESIGN ENGINEER

Wirtz Manufacturing is an OEM, primarily to the lead / acid battery industry. They have a very large line of equipment such as book mold casters, Lead melting furnaces, closed loop cooling systems, lead pumps, cure chambers and many others.

As a project design engineer in new product development I was responsible for mechanical and electrical design projects from concept through production. All projects were initiated and based on process improvement and required the following. Supervise multiple

experimental machine designs and tooling design projects from conception through installation, following time line and APQP. Research as required to produce layouts and supervise the design, construction and testing of proto type machinery and / or processes. Evaluate test data on proto type machines, machine elements and/or processes to see that requirements were met. Conduct field installation and tests as required. Receive input from customers as to their needs, evaluate this customer data, and incorporate into designs. I am able to program many PLCs, Servo,s and HMI’s ( see Below). I am also proficient designing and reading wiring diagrams. I poses extensive knowledge of NFPA and OSHA Standards. Also responsible for enforcement of safety requirements such as guard placement, guard use, and wearing of safety equipment. During my career at Wirtz I designed from concept through instillation many machines and machine elements. Some of my designs were lead melting furnaces, lead pump, automatic shoe jacking system, cure chamber, closed loop cooling system, rolling mill control system and others.
