PROFESSIONNAL EXPERIENCE

2013 - now PostDoc at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory, USA

- Developed advanced data mining technique to automate materials design and implemented in a software package.

- Implemented several modifications of CASINO, Quantum-Espresso and VASP packages to allow Quantum Monte Carlo (QMC) calculations of solids (in C

- Introduced and implemented new machine learning methodology to accelerate QMC calculations. Resulted in one order of magnitude faster calculations for small systems.

- Established best practices for QMC calculations of various systems with heavy elements. Employed QMC on massively parallel architectures to provide gold standard materials properties.

- Supervised a PhD candidate who later defended his thesis at University of California, Berkeley.

2009 - 2013 PostDoc in Max Planck Institute for Iron Research, Germany

- Coordinated an international project involving five partners (ArcelorMital, ThyssenKrupp, VoestAlpine, Aalto University) and actively participated in several bilateral projects.

- Developed and implemented (in C++) thermodynamic and transport models (kinetic Monte Carlo) for hydrogen embrittlement.

- Produced database for hydrogen effects in metals and alloys using state of the art ab initio calculations.

- Developed models and database led to a change in the technological processes that the metallurgical companies (ThyssenKrupp, Voestalpine and ArcelorMital) had been using in the production of high strength steels.

- Supervised a postdoc, a master?s and two PhD students.

2011 - now Scientific referee

- Reviewed more than 25 papers in Nature: Scientific Reports, Physical Review Letters, Physical Review B, Scripta Materialia, Journal of Applied Physics, Journal of Nuclear Materials, Journal of Alloys and Compounds, Physics Letters A, AIP Advances, Europhysics Letters, Chemical Industry & Chemical Engineering Quarterly.

2016 Guest editor in International Journal of Advanced Applied Physics Research

2005-2012 Teaching assistant of Quantum mechanics, Physics, Mechanics of Materials

- Lectured, led discussions, laboratory and computer classes.

- Prepared exercises, exams, software manuals, topics of team projects

- Evaluated exams and team projects

2002 Trainee at Novolipetsk Steel Company

- Optimized cold-rolling technological process.

2001 - 2003 Analyst at Intellectual resources Ltd., Moscow

- Automated data mining of metallurgical data from Internet and developed model to forecast prices on metallurgical production.

EDUCATION

2014-2016 Data Science and Machine Learning coursework ? on Coursera (from Stanford, University of Michigan, University of Washington, UC San Diego), on Udacity (Cloudera), etc.

2005 - 2008 Ph.D. in Computational Materials Science, Mining School of Nancy, France and Moscow Institute of Steels and Alloys, Russia

- Developed models of three metal forming processes. Implemented them in three FORTRAN90 software packages which are now in active use in ArcelorMital company. The resulting codes were several orders of magnitude faster compared to the conventional approach of using FEM while yielding similar accuracy.

2003 - 2005 M.S. in Materials Engineering, European School of Materials Engineering, France

- Devised experimental set-up for strain measurement by electronic speckle pattern interferometry (ESPI). The setup is in active use for metal forming processes at ArcelorMital company.

1999 - 2005 Dipl.-Ing. in Physics of Metals (Summa Cum Laude), Moscow Institute of Steels and Alloys, Russia

- Developed model for interaction between cracks and stringers and implemented in a software using Delphi Pascal.

2002 Training at Educational Internet Centre of Moscow

1998 - 1999 Courses in Mechatronics, State Technological Academy of Kovrov, Russia
