Professional Experience
Industrial Engineer (Continuous Improvement) Intern
Pottorff, Inc Fort Worth, Texas December
2015 May 2016
Designed and developed the first assembly production schedule tool for the HVAC industry using Lean
techniques, which balanced the line automatically with required labor, workstations and drop-off rate based on
the product. Increased productivity up to 15% with the new scheduling and sequencing process
Implemented lean methods to reduce waste, designed non-conformance zones & process, performed
CAPA investigations including Root Cause Analysis (5 Why, Fishbone) to identify the source of problem
during every Kaizen meeting
One of the key players in implementing the Single Piece Flow methodology
Made a Value-Stream map which depicted value added, non-value added and auxiliary waste in the
process line
Developed a new material picking chart for the aluminium extrusion louver line and eliminated errors
in material picking
Re-designed the layout of 2 major product lines Louvers and Ceiling Fire Damper
Performed calculations with Industrial Engineers such as labor cost savings, time savings, takt time,
productivity, payback period, productivity gain per year for making decisions such as purchasing new
machinery
Industrial Engineer Intern
Pottorff, Inc Fort Worth, Texas June
2015 July 2015
Performed time-study on 12 process lines throughout the plant
Implemented 6S, JIT techniques, designed - fabricated transport carts to facilitate motion of parts
within the facility
Designed a new Kanban process for a high-volume damper line that demands continuous flow of parts
Created Standard Work Instruction Sheets which serves as a working manual for the operators in the
line
Process Improvement Intern
Best Engineers Pumps Pvt Ltd Coimbatore, India January
2014 April 2014
Workflow assessment across the plant by using Arena Simulator to check the actual output that could
be generated with the existing flow
Performed bottleneck analysis and eliminated them by regulating workflow across the line through
work balance among machines and operators
Designed a specialized ERP software for the company
Made and analysed the Value stream map, thereby increasing the output by eliminating non-value
added activities
Used operation research techniques to facilitate proper allocation of work to machines
Manufacturing Engineer Intern
Pricol Ltd Coimbatore, India April 2013 May 2013
Designed and fabricated a semi-automated pneumatic bush crimping machine used to crimp bushes to
the axle of an odometer and replaced the manual machine that served as a bottleneck.
Reduced the pressure variation caused by manual crimping by setting up pressure valves attached to the
crimping machine to facilitate uniform pressure. This reduced defects caused by variation in pressure and
increased flow of work in the line.
Quality Engineer Intern
SJS Enterprises Pvt Ltd Bangalore, India April 2012
May 2012
Performed defect analysis and used Pareto charts to identify the defects that has the most occurrence.
Used Six Sigma principles such as brainstorming techniques and Root Cause analysis for problem
solving. Implemented Statistical Process Control Charts in the process lines for visual process analysis and
reasoning.
Used regression analysis on quality parameters. Reduced 4.5% of the production costs by working with
the manufacturing department to produce defect free parts.
Projects
Trade impact of Panama Canal expansion on the Port of Los Angeles Supply Chain Study
June 2016 - July 2016
Current trade scenario, facilities and features at the Port of Los Angeles. Import export analysis through the port.
New features offered by Panama Canal. Logistics advantage in terms of Quantity and its impact on the Port of Los
Angeles.
Conveyor Belt - Project Management using MS Project August
- December 2015
2015
Developed a plan for the project, created work breakdown structures and work elements - created project teams, assigned
resources for activities, checked the inter-relationship between departments.
Scheduled the project using Gantt charts for an early finish without conflicts between resources.
Quality Analysis using Six Sigma methodology for Eaton, India October
2015 - December 2015
Analysed the problems in a tandem gear pump due to oil leakage, adopted DMAIC technique to implement the solution.
Data
collection, Analysis, repeatability and reproducibility measures to evaluate measuring techniques, used Pareto charts, fish-bone diagram
for Cause and effect relationship, FMEA, brainstorming sessions, performed 8D analysis etc.
Facility Design for ACME footwear August
2015 - December 2015
Analysed the current ACME footwear facility, determined inter-relationships between departments.
Computed the annual growth till 2018, designed a new facility by calculating area requirements pertaining to each department,
floor space, goods storage, rack, pallets, holding cost, labor and equipment required to run the facility etc. Determined the total area of
the facility and the cost that would be incurred to purchase land, equipment and additions for the facility.
Simulation Model of a Semi-Conductor I ndustry
