CURRENT RESEARCH AREA
My current research area includes development of switched mode power amplifiers for SONAR applications. This includes the design, testing and field trials for various projects related to Sonar. SONAR stands for Sound Navigation and Ranging. This is mainly used for under water communication for detection of submarines, ships and near-by targets underwater. Power amplifiers constitute the heart of Sonar systems. The input signal received from the receiver is amplified and transmitted into water, so that after travelling a certain distance is does not get faded out. This is the main application of Power Amplifiers. Switched mode power amplifiers are highly efficient than linear amplifiers and is compact. Hence my research is moving on with new control strategies for reducing loss, increased efficiency reduction in size of switched mode power amplifiers used for high power Sonar applications.

MTech PROJECT:
DC-DC CHOPPER EXCITATION CONTROL ON WOUND ROTOR
SYNCHRONOUS GENERATOR FOR MPPT IN OFFSHORE WIND FARM
A low cost wind energy system with most flexible configuration was developed, with an to implement Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT) of wind turbine in offshore wind farms
by extracting the maximum power possible at different wind speeds. Thedesign, softwarecoding,
setup,thefabricated PCB’s testing in LAB according to the required control algorithm were
demonstrated by me and was approved successfully. Thecontrol algorithm used is the most relevant
part of the project.
Advantage: It preserves controllability of the most flexible configurations like DFIG-based wind farms
Or wind farms with PMSG generators and back-to-back converters. Also the mechanism is highly
efficient, to the use of direct driven multi-pole synchronous generators. The above topology can be
extended for further R&D activities with new control algorithms strategies.
MTech SEMINAR:
ENERGY STORAGE IN ELECTRIC TRACTION
A review of most commonly used energy storage elements such a batteries, super capacitors and flywheel energy storage elements and its application in electric traction system was analyzed and presented successfully by me and was approved by the institution. The topic can also be extended for further R&D.
BTech PROJECT:
HOME AUTOMATION USING ANDROID
Home automation includes centralized control of lighting appliances, and other systems, to provide improved convenience, comfort, energy, efficiency, security and voice recognition. This project was developed successfully by a team of three using android platform for controlling internal electrical appliances remotely form external hardware setup. The project was approved by the institution. I did the design, fabrication of PCB’s according to the necessary controls. Further R&D can be done.
BTech SEMINAR:
PICO PROJECTORS
They are small tiny projectors almost a size of coin which can be attached to anyelectronic components such as video players, Tablets, i-phones etc. to eliminatebulky projectors and easy portability. This topic was presented individually and was completed successfully.
