roadmap.

Continual improvement of electrochemical deposited current collectors on silicon solar cells. Identified

and implemented cost savings of ~1 million USD/year.

Management of tool vendors and chemistry suppliers to meet COO requirements and quality

standards.

Failure analysis and root cause analysis to track KPIV and establish electrochemical process

metrics, reduced defects and increased yields on electroplating.

Characterization and implementation of cell packaging improvement to increase product shelf

Performed tool selection and testing; FMEA analysis of HVM electroplating tool. Worked with vendors to

detect failure modes in pilot test tool prior to final design, approval and HVM tool purchase.

Developed process roadmaps for: electrochemical deposition process, metal etch process and

sputtering of seed layer and co -wrote RFQ for HVM tools. Flagged areas of concern and implemented

trials to test tools for down-selection of HVM vendors to validate integration steps.

Developed scale-up methodologies, characterization and screening of defects and changes in

KPIV/KPOV in seed metal layer deposited by PVD to understand product quality issues related with

increased deposition power and speed in HVM line and develop strategies to mediate effects of

morphological issues in downstream processing and effects related to overall process integration .

Modeling of material loss and WWT requirements for HVM electrochemical deposition and metal

etching tools.

SoloPower Inc 2011-2013

Research Scientist

Lead Engineer responsible plating tool chemistry and plating processes in HVM pilot plant; collaborated

in a multi-disciplinary task force to increase factory yield, cost reductions and increase in solar cell

efficiency (daily ramp-up, management and process meetings).

Manager of the Chemical Metrology team, responsible for R&D and HVM Lab operations, writing SOP

for chemical metrology and tracking of KPIV/KPOV of HVM plating line and UL certification (UL 1703).

Develop analytical techniques and inspection methodology for the coated films. HVM metrology (IC,

ICP and Titration) of electrodeposition baths.

Manage daily operations of R&D Lab, management of inventory and chemical baths in R&D and HVM

line and co-ordinate technology transfer to pilot e lectroplating line.

Developed new electrochemical deposition processes for thin film CIGS solar cells, which enabled the

control of the Ga profile along the CIGS laye rs achieving 15% efficiency in R&D cells (1 patent

application submitted). Development of several chemistries for binary chemistries for deposition of Cu -

Ga, Cu-In, Ga-Se, Cu-Se, In-Se.

Optimized the plating chemistry and back contact barrier layers to reduce unwanted alloying of back

contact which decreased recombination rates at the back contact and increase efficiency. (1 patent

application submitted)
