SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: On daily basis, use specialized knowledge of fundamental operations of administrative operations of VA healthcare delivery system, to include properly filing, routing, pulling, and storing VA claim folders. Provide technical support with processing and maintaining medical records according to stringent prepping instructions and in compliance with regulatory requirements. Recognize and index documents contained with veterans benefits claims files and medical records, to include military documents, correspondence, and VA forms; assign index number to each document and assign proper classification of document type. Convert veterans claims folders into electronic files, which entails studying claims-specific correspondence and other evidence concerning complex legal and medical matters, determining which information is extraneous to eliminate scanning artifacts, scanning claims folders into personal computer and computer systems, and creating folders in Virtual VA System (VVA) and Veterans Benefits Management System.

After scanning, review document to ensure clarity and legibility, compare image with index number to verify accuracy, and confirming that all documents were scanned and that electronic folder exactly duplicates hard copy


INFORMATION MANAGEMENT: Stay abreast of trends and issues in record keeping and information management. Assemble records in correct sequential and chronological order.
