Resume:

November **, ****

Dear Hiring Manager,

My name is Brenda Henley, and I am excited to apply for the position of Medical Coder. I believe I’m a fantastic fit for this role for a few reasons:

Recent CPC-A. Very excited to use qualifications learned and continue to grow in coding profession.

I have worked in the healthcare system my entire career, in office both medical billing and front office medical receptionist positions, hospitals, and remotely.

My experience as a Clinical Mapping specialist has provided me with extensive research knowledge in ICD, and CPT, and HCPC guidelines.

I have a steep learning curve and am driven to stay ahead of the industry, as evidenced by my recent certification as a Certified Professional Coder (CPC).

I have proven skill of managing my own time, am organized and know how to prioritize and multi-task in a fast paced environment.

I am also familiar with most commercial insurance plans, including Medicare, Medicaid, and Medicare Advantage plans and regulations, and have utilized phone and web portals, to research claim status. I believe my knowledge would a great benefit to your growing healthcare company. Through positions held, I am highly experienced at the importance of information verification and need for clean claim submission, providing authorization/referrals, and UPIN numbers. Previous positions have also included entering payment, denials, co-pays, and write-offs and maintain A/R aged report within standards. I have continued to stay up-to-date with webinar and conferences.

I look forward to discussing the Medical Coder position with you in person, please call me at 720-***-****. I look forward to hearing from you soon.

Thank you for your time and consideration.

Regards,

Brenda Henley

Definition: Mapping is very similar to Coding

Clinical mapping involved the terminology of SNOMED (the WHO has endorsed this terminology for use in EHR’s).

Example of a SNOMED term is “carcinoma of right nipple, female”. Using ICD-10-CM (2016)

Alpha Index reflects “Carcinoma see Neoplasm, site, malignant”. Following this guideline – the neoplasm table leads to code C50.0 – final tabular list provides laterality. Final ICD-10-CM code is C50.011- “Malignant neoplasm of nipple and areola, right, female breast”. Checking ICD-10-CM (2017) reflects C50.011- “Malignant neoplasm of nipple and areola, right, female breast”.
