Research Associate

Worked in Research & Innovation Department of Comparative Biomedical Sciences (OIE/FAO Reference Laboratory for Avian Influenza and Newcastle Disease, OIE Collaborating Centre for Diseases at the Human Animal Interface) Istituto Zooprofilattico Sperimentale delle Venezie, Viale dell'Università 10, 35020, Legnaro (PD) Italy My activities focused on:

Molecular and serological diagnostic analyses (PCR, rt-PCR, ELISA, AGID) Virus isolation and typing.

Sequencing, phylogenetic analysis, molecular epidemiology and evolutionary studies of RNA viruses. Food microbiology diagnostic tests (Salmonella, Campylobacter, Listeria, E coli, Vibrio). Involved in international research projects, collaborations and training. Quality Assurance management according ISO 17025:2005 and ISO 9001:2008 Organization and management of OIE Twinning Project on Avian Influenza and Newcastle Disease between Iran veterinary Organizations and IZS-Ve.

Research Project scope:

Genetic analyses and antigenic matching of H9N2 avian influenza field isolates and vaccine strains in Iran. Studying Nigerian swine-origin H1N1pdm09 influenza isolates with suggested Human to animal transmission. Molecular studies of H1N1 and H3N2 influenza viruses isolates in Italian swine. Study of genetic and phenotypic characteristics of recent APMVs-1 isolated from pigeons and doves in Italy and evaluation of the efficacy of oil-emulsion vaccines against contemporary virulent APMVs-1 circulating in the Italian Columbiforme population.

Antigenic and genetic analyses of isolate APMV/wigeon/Italy/3920-1/2005 indicate that it represents a new avian paramyxovirus (APMV-12).

Evaluation of Iranian molecular diagnostic protocols for avian influenza and Newcastle disease viruses. Drawing up a molecular tests to identify APMV, 2, 3 viruses. Phylogenetic studies of rabies virus.

Characterization of Avian Influenza and Newcastle disease viruses from Poultry in Libya. H9N2 avian influenza virus nomenclature and standard classification. H9N2 avian influenza virus evolutionary analyses.
